THE NORTH FACE Jester Everyday Laptop Backpack, Optic Emerald/Summit Navy, One Size

I wouldn’t mind one more opening but works holding everything. Durable and Functional.

For something made by a reputable brand, I'm very disappointed with this North Face Jester Backpack. When I first removed it from the Amazon box, everything looked fine. It was packed in a plastic bag to keep it from getting dust and debris on it. That is the only good thing I have to say about this purchase. The smell of chemicals was immediate upon removing the backpack from the plastic bag. So much so that I had to leave it outside for a few hours to air out because the smell was so bad, it made me nauseous. After I felt that the bag was sufficiently aired out, I grabbed it from my front porch and began inspecting the rest of it. When I grabbed one of the zippers to open the backpack, it felt very sticky. The plastic/rubber coating on the zipper was secreting this sticky substance that smelled just like the bag after I removed it from the plastic. I wiped it off with an alcohol wipe and that seemed to do the trick until today when it started raining. The rain water apparently activated whatever is in the coating on the zippers and they all started secreting the sticky substance again. Then, to top it all off, I noticed today that the right adjustment strap wasn't sewn on correctly so it is just permanently twisted up. None of these things would be a deal breaker for me on their own but when combined, it's just poor quality control on North Face's part. For the $75 I paid for the bag, I expected more. I spoke with Amazon and they are sending me a replacement, which by the way was hassle-free. Two thumbs up to Amazon for that stress-free interaction. I'll update my review once the replacement pack is in. In the meantime, check out the photos of the issues I've mentioned in this review.

The size of this backpack is great! Very durable, multiple color options, comfortable straps. Works great for all grade levels of school.
