We are not allowed to wear steel toe shoes on third rail tracks at work. Are these safe to wear?

These are steel toe safety boots, so unfortunately there are safe, but if you’re not allowed to wear steel toes, then these wouldn’t work. I would recommend looking at the KEEN Utility Detroit Soft Toes as a similar boot that would work, or any KEEN Utility boots that have ‘Soft Toe’ in the name.

Which keen safety toe shoes are the most comfortable for aching feet?

These KEEN Lansing shoes are very comfortable for a steel-toe shoe. Before I retired, I wore these 12 hours a day, and occasionally left them on when I got home to cut grass in! I did find that wearing heavy duty work socks provided the most comfort. I ordered my normal shoe size and was very happy with the Lansing.

I wear a 10/10 1/2 in shoes, should I get a 9 1/2?

A little late now, but you probably actually want to go a little bigger than your usual. Unless you are 100% certain you know your size, going too small will kill your feet. In normal shoes, the fabric can stretch to conform to the size of your foot. This is not true with a safety toe. It will destroy your toes and feet, not to mention be extremely uncomfortable.

I normally wear a 10, should I get a size down like a 9?

No I wouldn't neccesarily go down a size. I wear a sz12 Nike and I got a sz12 Keen for my job. The one thing I may recommend is to buy the composite toe version. It might be lighter. I am looking into doing that myself

So far so good!

There was bit of a break in period and now these have turned out to decently comfortable. Winter is coming so we will see how well they hold up to the snow, ice, and cold.

Shoe is larger than 9.5

This shoe is nice but pay attention to the width and size. I could put my thumb behind my husband’s heel in the 9.5 shoe.
