Beautiful Fur But Bad Backing
I unfortunately spent hours preparing these pieces to sew, and while sewing, the backing started unraveling even on large cut pieces. I'm not sure if this fur was kept in bad conditions or was just old, but I've never had an experience like this with mohair. ONLY if you arm yourself with loads of Fray Stop will you be able to make anything out of this, but why do that when you can get a high quality backing on another piece. For the amount I paid for this tiny piece, I'm really disappointed. I make professional bears for customers and I would never give them a bear that will fall apart in the near future.I've attached photos of the fraying. One is a gusset that I've basted for machine sewing. What a shame.
