An excellent example of a terrific "box set/special edition"
I'm deliriously happy with this release.I'm one of those people who buys a lot of CD's, remastered versions, box sets, etc. I love this stuff.Have all the Beatles ones, Prince ones, The Who, U2...I LOVE these things. But The Police? Now...we are talking about the band that mattered the most to me, when music became one of the things in life that mattered most to me. End of high school, beginning of college...the music you liked sort of defined who you WERE.I distinctly remember walking down to Tower Records in Westwood, between classes at UCLA, to be there when the doors open so I could get one of the first copies. I hurried back to my dorm room, played side one, flipped it over, played side two, and then repeated that, like, a billion times. This album is in my DNA. I know every vocal inflection, every sizzling hi-hat, every bass lick, every guitar wash...In this "gee I miss how cool big record jackets used to be" sized box, there's the six CD's tucked into a nice hardcover book with a nice essay and some nice photos and some nice facts.Whatever. This is about this music. This fantastic music.CD #1 is a crystalline remaster of the original album, that will make you hope beyond hope that the guys do this for the previous four records. It's a cliché but...it IS like hearing it for the first time. Seriously. I'm hearing stuff...little teeny tiny details...that I never heard before. ME. Hearing things I've never heard before? Are you kidding? Granted...some of what I'm talking about is subtle. But for some of us...some of us clearly with issues...it's so cool.CD #2 collects the B-sides and other era-specific bonus tracks. I found a few items I wasn't aware of, like "Every Bomb You Make." It's an anti-Cold War protest song, with rewritten lyrics, apparently used for an episode of the puppet parody show "Spitting Image" in 1985. I need to find that clip...it's positively brutal towards the political leaders of that era (lyrics written by two guys from the show, but sung by Sting). There are also a number of live recordings, from Atlanta, November 1983. If you have the "Live" Police CD released a few years back, these are the missing songs from those shows. I'm pretty sure this is the show from the Synchronicity concert released a hundred years ago, on LaserDisc, I'm so old...and then DVD.CD #3 includes the demos and outtakes for all the songs on side one of the original album. Utterly fascinating. Hearing different lyrics for 'Walking In Your Footsteps"...I remember how the lyrics inside the album back then has some that Sting didn't sing. Always wondered. Here they are, the song having been re-edited prior to its' ultimate release. And holy crap "O My God" started off so funky! Think "We'll Be Together" from Sting's second solo album...like THAT.CD #4 does the same for side two of the original album...seeing the evolution of "Every Breath You Take"...one of the iconic songs of the 80's...is fascinating, and kinda thrilling for this Police obsessive. Did you know that The Police considered releasing an album of covers? Looks like there are only two cuts that survived its' eventual abandonment. They're here.CD's # 5 and 6 are a complete Oakland show from September 10, 1983. This was just a few days after I saw The Police at Hollywood Park here in L.A. The discs (and the band) sound GREAT.Further details are best left discovered on your own...for ME that was a huge part of the fun of spending time with this set.I'm STILL spending time with this set.I'm feeling a little guilty taking the time to write THIS instead of spending time with this set. Ha!Buy this. You're gonna love it.

Stunning Police Box Set
I'm a huge fan of The Police. This band was my favorite and remains so.The "Synchronicity" box set is superb and a must for any Police fan. The set contains over 50 songs, photos, and a book chronicling the successful album and the band.Once you buy this, you are essentially getting four separate albums: 01) the original "Synchronicity" album including the bonus track, "Murder by Numbers" (once only available on the cassette and compact disc and possible B-side), 02) B-sides, some live recordings and bonus tracks, 03) an alternate full version of the "Synchronicity" album including extra songs, 04) and an unreleased live concert from Oakland, CA.As a fan, I always wondered what it would be like if the band didn't stop at the top of their success. In a sense, we are finally rewarded for our wait. This set contains a lot of extra music. Many of the tracks are songs we know, but in different versions. Some, to me, are a little hit-and-miss. But we have them to listen to now.The B-sides tracks offer some additional gems like "Someone To Talk To."The bonus "Synchronicity" alternate album has some gems. "O My God" (demo) is a funky piece. "Loch" is an Andy Summers track with 1980s synth sounds, but it is addictive." And the live concert in Oakland recording is excellent and demonstrates how awesome The Police were live.If you are a Police fan, buy this box set now.

A great set but for real Police fans
I have been a Police fan for over 40 years and seen them and Sting solo a number of times in concert. I only provide that because for someone like me this is a great collector's set. It has a beautiful book that describes the entire process of making the album plus lots of alternate takes that reveal the development of some timeless songs. The average listener might say, so what?, but to a serious fan of the band this is a must own set.

Classic
For anyone who's a Police fan, this is the ultimate box set for their arguably best album, Synchronicity. 6 discs, a huge hardcover book with the whole story of the album and plenty of full-color photos of posters, 45s and more!

CD Box Set sized as Vinyl - don't panic! 6 CD's included!
While the stock pic suggests a more petite package, the final product is immense. I was certain at first the wrong set had been sent to me, but it is indeed the 6-CD set. Now I have to find somewhere to store it.One of my favorite albums!

A Police fan must have
My first live rock show was Police in London 1979 and I have been a fan ever since. This is a great collection with some true gems and rarities. My only criticism if any, is imho the superfluous Atlanta '83 live stuff. If you're a fan you already have this material. Great price here at Amaz!

Very complete
I really like how complete this whole collection is. I don’t think anything is missing and I am not bored by repetion of certain tracks.

Very expensive. But for hard core Police fans, a necessary addition.
