Smooth, Energizing, and Surprisingly Refreshing
I’ve been really enjoying this Guayusa tea. It has a smooth, earthy flavor — not too bitter, not too grassy — and it’s incredibly easy to drink. I usually steep it for about 5–7 minutes, and it holds up well without turning harsh or overpowering. What I love most is the energy boost. It’s more subtle than coffee — no jitters, no crash — just a steady, clean feeling of being awake and focused. It’s become part of my morning routine, especially on days when I want something warm but lighter than coffee. The 16-ounce bag is generous and packed with quality loose leaves. No dust or filler, just whole, clean leaves that smell amazing when you open the bag. I’ve tried it both hot and iced — both work great! There are some stems in there which you need to sort out, but that is a given with all of these products. This product definitely was greener in color compared to the previous one I tried (Pacha), though the tastes were similar. If you’re looking for a natural caffeine alternative that’s smooth and energizing without any weird side effects, this is worth trying. I’ll definitely be ordering more!

Fav energy source so far
I haven't tried any other brands of guayusa so I have nothing to compare it to. That said, I'm a fan. I'll start off by saying the effects are similar to that of yerba mate - it's more of an uplifting buzz than the anxious caffeine jolt of coffee, but like with any caffeine source too much and it probably won't be pleasant. I actually prefer it to yerba mate in that sense. And also in the sense that, for me, yerba mate's taste isn't the best. I actually look forward to drinking this guayusa whereas the yerba mate had just become a daily ritual for energy. It's more vibrant (looking) that mate and I suppose flavor wise as well. I see others speaking of a grassy flavor and yeah, I can get that though it's not so exaggerated as grass. I would describe it as green and planty, and vegetal. Not bitter like green tea or matcha and that's what makes it smooth to take down. There is somewhat of a strange aftertaste...the first impression that is it's bad or weird but after a few cups I have already gotten used to it and it's doesn't bother me or stand out anymore. I would recommend. I may experiment with other brands so I have something to compare it to, which brings on the point that this is pretty reasonably priced for what you get.

Best wake up drink!
Tea tastes great! Can't oversteep it. Lots of energy and best of all, there isn't a tariff war that's happening with Ecuador and the United States! If your looking for a replacement to coffee or if you just want a good tea with lots of caffeine, this is a foolproof tea to get or gift.

Good quality guayusa.
Not as high quality as Runa guayusa from back in the day, yet still good quality.

High Quality!
This Guayusa is very fresh and good.I was hesitant to buy a tea from Amazon since there are so many shady sellers on this platform, I'm glad I did. This tea is the real deal and tastes like Guayusa should. I will certainly reorder from this company since their tea is excellant.

Favorite Guayusa!
I have been drinking guayusa for 4 years now and alternated between the aged leaves of Brand R and the fresh green dried leaves of Brand W. Also tried Brand P, but their withered leaves consistently taste off to me. Just tried this brand out of curiosity and happened to have bags of Brand R, W, and P on hand to compare side by side to. Results: surprisingly, despite not being from one of the dedicated guayusa brands, this is my favorite! Immediately upon opening the bag, the smell is the best, no moldy off-notes like Brand R, no overly grassy bright notes like Brand W, and no dull bitter notes like Brand P. And the taste of the steeped brew? Perfect balance between roasted and aged and fresh and bright with a very clean and balanced guayusa energy. Not to mention the price per pound is also the cheapest of all 4 brands. I’m a fan!UPDATE: I reached out to Davidson’s Tea and here’s what they had to say:“Our Guayusa is sourced from Ecuador. We go direct to source therefore we have a direct personal relationship with the farmers. The herb is plucked and considered “green” as it is not roasted or aged.”

High quality & also the only EBT eligible guayusa
I've been drinking guayusa for over 5 years and it's now become my favorite type of caffeinated tea. Other than green tea/matcha, it's the only other form of caffeinated beverage that naturally contains l-theanine (the relaxing calming amino acid). It turns out now for almost 2 years (thanks to long Covid), I can no longer tolerate caffeine at all unless it's green tea or guayusa. The l-theanine must be the difference - it seems to take away the jittery & unpleasant effects and gives me a healthy and smooth form of energy to start & get me through my day.I've tried several brands of guayusa, the only one I don't recommend is Runa (leaves went from high quality for years to unfresh, brown, and even moldy. But I'm not sure if Runa is even around anymore?).Big bonus - Davidson is the only brand available that you can purchase using a SNAP EBT (food stamp) card. It comes as a box of pre made tea bags as well, but they run out quickly & are very expensive compared to this 1 pound bag. Also Davidson has various affordable bulk organic loose leaf varieties of green tea here on Amazon, which are a great overall deal for good tea.
