Easy to use and inexpensive. Useless instructions.
Pretty easy to use, and the price is right. Better instructions would be welcome though. If you understand the commands and functions, it's not bad to use.

Great value scanner!
It's a great little portable scanner that does anything I need in a pinch and is easy to store and use.

Beginners scan tool
It performs fairly well as advertised. This is my 1st scan tool and I needed it for my own personal use to solve a check engine light issue on my 2010 Malibu that couldn't be fixed since 2017 and I used it for my powertrain control course at my community college. In the beginning, I was very new to ECM data and had no clue what to expect. Throughout the course, I was taught various types of scan tools and modes they're capable of. I eventually wanted to invest in my own scan tool so I researched on Youtube and articles. I watched Justin Dow's review and bought myself one. It's a pretty neat scan tool that I've used so far. Very easy to read and it's nicely organized how it displays the information. What bugs me about the tool is that when I scroll down too fast physically, the screen lags and doesn't keep up with the button I command it to do. It would freeze for like 3 seconds then the screen will display what I want. Another con is when I want to erase the code, I follow the instructions but then as I proceed the tool would say "Error, failure to erase code. Make sure the engine is off, ignition on." (but the engine is already off and ignition is on.) However, once I start the engine up, the check engine light will disappear, which is what I wanted. I don't know if the scan tool is haveing glitches or sort, I haven't mentioned to customer service about it. I wanted to get the name of manufacturer codes such as P1174. I couldn't obtain that type of information. So I don't know if the scan tool was not supposed to obtain that info or only if a factory level scan tool was able to obtain that info. Thank you to the team who created this helpful piece of diagnostic hardware! With the guidance of obtaining information, I was able to fix my emissions issue on my malibu.

Launch is not to be trusted!!!
First off a bit about myself because a lot of reviews are not accurate because of the lack of knowledge. I have been a mechanic for over 30 years and have owned two diesel equipment repair businesses.Make no mistake. This is Launch of China, they are the same manufacturer that makes Launch Tech USA, but Launch Tech USA has their own software.First of all the box showed up water, damaged, and upon opening everything was extremely dirty, but it didn’t look used. Some of the components were damaged during shipping, but were in usable condition. After opening the box I noticed that the tablet was a 2020 year model, not a 2023 like the ad claimed! An account was made, the unit was charged and fully updated, and then plugged into an International Maxxforce. The unit would not connect to three different International trucks we tried and in said on the screen that “no International software was found“. The scan tool was then plugged into two different Dodge trucks, none of which preformed automatic connections, and the Vin number was entered manually. One of the trucks, the scan tool would not clear a code that my Snap-on Solus had no issue clearing. After contacting Launch of China to make them aware of the issues, they told me the unit needed to be updated. Again I performed all updates available, none of which pertained to any major heavy duty truck manufacturer or auto manufacturer for that matter.Again the unit was plugged into an International truck with the same results. After this, I looked into exactly what software was included on the scan tool, and there was absolutely no software for any major manufacturer like John Deere, caterpillar, Volvo, Hitachi, Cummins, Detroit, International , etc. NONE!!!Emailed the company twice with pictures and information to which they have not replied.A little extra kick to the teeth, in the ad it said that a free gift of a Creader 3001 and a borescope would be included free of charge and all you have to do is “add them to your cart and they would automatically include them free“. Never received the borescope, and they charged me for the Creader 3001!Thank God, Amazon was gracious enough to push a return through, even though it was past the 30 day return policy.Launch of China is not to be trusted and I will never purchase any of their products again.

A must have to keep in your vehicle.
You know the situation, where you’re driving and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on. It creates a little bit of anxiety. A little bit of fear. With this, you can keep it right in your console or your glove box and if the need should ever arise, you can always find out what it is. Or you know you always have that one coworker that’s driving around with the check engine light on and they have no idea what it’s for. This would be a great opportunity to help them out too. It’s nice and compact extremely easy to use who you are. For the price it’s real hard to beat.

Seems to work, just too hard to trust the data from the freeze frame.
Tried to update at the LAUNCH website, and it didn't even recognize the serial number. Idk if I was doing something wrong or if the tool is counterfeit, but i couldn't wait for days and days of emailing back and forth WITH LAUNCH or Amazon, so I sent it back.
