Not a bad hydraulic crimper
I like this hydraulic crimper. Makes putting battery cable ends on easy without worrying that they will come off. Easy to use. Comes with many fittings for different sized connections, as well as extra o rings.

Missing one 4 Guage die. This should be a 5 star
Kit was missing one of the 4 gauge dies but I was too busy to complain and ask for a replacement I guess it's too late and I'll have to deal with it. I have used it and it's great just missing dies and the thought of spending hours or emailing pics or sitting on hold is not worth it

Works great if you take your time to make sure you're using the right die size
This crimper works great! The AWG sizes give you a good starting point - but since every connector manufacturer can have the outer dimensions of their connectors be different, might need to go to a different size. I found that taking it extra slow and watching closely when you try the first connector of a given type helps -- if it starts winging out before the crimper is closed, might need to go larger, and if it's not getting each side about equal, go smaller. I found it also helped to crimp tightly along the length of the connector, rotate the connector by one crimp face, and then recrimp a little less tightly along that face to help clear up any small wings that are forming. The Anderson connector to the left on my attached photo was crimped a total of six times.Takes some time -- but as long as you're not doing mass production you should be fine! I've done around 12 crimps with 2/0 conductors and 4 crimps with 1/0 conductors so far. I don't think I'd be likely to use this for anything 10 gauge or smaller, as I have a handheld crimping tool that is much faster for those (as it's easy to crimp those sizes with a single squeeze - don't need the hydraulics help.) Very happy with the purchase for larger connectors!

Inaccurate die size: This tool fails at its one job
Apparently this is a common fault, but when I crimped 4AWG wire in a 4AWG crimp connector until the dies met, the wire was still loose. I confirmed that with the dies pressed together, a commercially-crimped 4AWG terminal was loose in the dies, so it was not a problem with the terminals I was using; rather, the dies were too large.I used the smaller 6AWG die set and carefully avoided forming large "wings" but still crimped it tight. After doing this, I have since read that others with this problem have used mixed sets of dies; say for my situation crimping 4AWG wire, that would be one 4AWG and one 6AWG die.Given that a precisely correct crimp is the primary reason for this tool, it really has failed its one job, and I'm probably being excessively generous giving it three stars. A loose crimp is a fire hazard.Additionally, the manual not only has the typical microscopic type, but also has no documentation of how to replace the seals. It merely suggests that this might need to be done at some point, without any documentation of how.

Works great
Works very well. I do wish the crimps were round instead of hexagonal. Fairly heavy but very sturdy. Requires two hands to use. I have used to crimp lugs on battery charger connections and steel cable for fencing (reversed dies and crimped flat to flat). I would recommend.
