Suncourt ZoneMaster 10-Inch Normally Closed Motorized Damper — Power Open/Spring Close 24V Vent Damper, Transformer Included (ZC210)

I just installed this in our HVAC system. Our children's rooms would get too hot in the winter with the heater on, with the registers closed the rooms still got hot and the registers were noisy. I installed the damper and adjusted it to restrict the air flow down by 80+% and now the rooms stay comfortable with the heater on.When the AC it turned on the damper opens fully to give the rooms maximum AC, something they need during the summer. This unit worked great, it was very reasonably priced and for what I needed it worked perfectly. Some have commented on it being cheaply made with plastic parts but for what I needed it's perfect and I don't have any concerns about it holding up in a residential application.

I installed two 10" normally closed dampers on a 3 way duct box to create 2 return zones for a whole house dehumidifier. I am impressed with the quality of the Suncourt motorized damper. The housing has heavy gauge metal that does not deform, the swing valve is sturdy, and it had an internal gasket. I removed the gasket to provide a 1/4" gap for some airflow in the closed position (rather than adjusting the closed position).It is slow to open: after 5 to 10 seconds the motor engages the shaft, and it takes 15 seconds to fully open, so the total time to open is as much as 25 seconds. It only takes a few seconds to close using the spring. There is no audible noise from opening or closing. It is OK for my application since the blower takes time to spin up.There is not much space on one side to connect a flex duct since the motor housing is near the edge, but I made it work.The electrical connection is a 2 wire terminal screw. It looks like a plug in the picture, but you simply insert the wires and tighten the terminal screws.

I have actually purchased several of these in various sizes for zoning my supply and returns on my AC in the house.You absolutely will not find a comparable product for the money. It works as well as any other damper and even comes with a transformer, which you will not find anywhere for anything less than twice the price.I have no trouble actuating 3 of these in parallel off a single zone on my Taco zone controller.I haven't used the transformer because I have no use for it in my setup, but I assume it works fine. You could probably use it for a doorbell power supply as well if you needed one.Bottom line is that this is a great buy for the money and there's no need to spend much more on any other zone damper. I'd buy this again.

From an HVAC technician: I use these to regulate the air flow in my son's room. For instance, he has a smart mouth like his mama so when he starts running offthe mouth i flip a switch to close the air to his room.
