Great Scanner but this way overpriced
I bought this Scanner brand new on July 13th 2021 from Wex photo in Manchester for £774.00. The price on Amazon is far too much

Epson bad manufacturing quality and "Don't care" support.
Epson do not take manufacturing quality seriously, you can expect trouble. I wrote to Epson, providing photos, but they preferred to ignore the problem, as follows."Dear Sir,I have a background in engineering and manufacturing quality. My Epson Perfection V700 Photo simply would not power up on occasions and this became worse until it would not power up at all. Of course I checked that the power was arriving at the unit and concluded the fault was inside, possibly with the power switch, but this was not the case. Power was arriving at the main board. The service manual suggested that the main board should be replaced at a cost of around $150 by the time it was delivered and tax paid.I removed the board "B178MAIN" for inspection on the underside and the evidence of poor manufacturing is beyond doubt. It is a shock that Epson shipped these units at all, in this condition as this is not the standard we have come to expect from an otherwise good company.I trust that you will take this manufacturing problem seriously and elevate it to the highest level and decide on an appropriate customer policy as it would seem from the internet that I am not alone in witnessing this problem. I have enclosed pictures from my microscope so you can see the problem for yourselves.Solder has failed to flow through the holes properly in many places leading to bad joints and there are residues of possibly solder paste or flux on much of the board. Also I found beads of loose solder some of which I removed but some can be seen in image "flowres3"."They responded;Dear Tom,Thank you for confirming your information. We would expect your product to function without failure for a significant number of years. However as this was reported to us after the warranty period had expired, this is no longer subject to the warranty offering.EPSON produce all of our products to the highest of standards, which allows us to make the products cost effective and reliable. Unfortunately technology is not infallible, despite our efforts to make products 100% reliable. For this reason EPSON offer a 12-month warranty, valid from original date of purchase, the warranty offering extends to any faults reported within this time. As your unit is over 8 years old this can not be repaired free of charge."Of course the whole point is that they shipped a defective product in the first place and have chosen to ignore this.
