XXXL Phone with BIG advantages
Doogee VMAX PLUS cost £430 . This is a very large phone which has several advantages brought about by its virtually unlimited battery power, bluetooth is very persistent and screen refresh rate can be set at 120hz because it uses between 12-20% of the battery capacity per day(0600-2200) so recharging every day is simply not required. UPDATE after a months use phone is lasting a full 7days between charges with around 15% remaining after 7 days(0600-2200) use. Also when sitting on a desk it doesn't move about because of its mass as you type. There are disadvantages all related to its size, there are no phone holders for cars that fit(in the UK), there are no phone cases/socks that fit well either. So a neoprene phone sock was made to measure, but from a personal view it will fit in my pocket but then I'm XXXL as well.Conclusions.Its a brick but a very well made brick with good performance/price ratio and there is no need for battery pack or charging leads on a daily basis, you will only buy a phone like this because of the size of the battery and the advantages that brings. Its very rugged and built to survive in a far harsher environment that I inhabit in rural Norfolk UK. Update, there is a phone holster which does fit this phone its Viiger Leather cell phone shoulder holster £28 in Dec 24 from Amazon.

Battery life
Solid phone. very heavy so may not be suitable for everyone. I had a doogee s110 for long time and then bought a color8 and cyber s but had to return both cause something orr other didnt work for me. apps are fast, camera decent specially IR camera. i have lot of office apps running and watch videos etc in free times and long calls. but for 4 days it dropped to 50% only. so far satisfied.Update : After a couple of weeks of use i can now give it a 5 star. Its heavy as i said before but it feels solid in the hand and no worry about dropping. Im a heavy user with lot of back ground apps running but can forget all about battery for several days. Best phone so far for me.

Impressive hardware let down by Android
Touch screen alignment seams to be out as I find it almost impossible to txt or select an app icon. Most often something I didn't want happens or opens. It is very frustrating and not at all easy like my Iphone or Oukitel rugged Android phone. The screen is constantly obscured by notifications that I don't want and can not disable. At this very moment a notification just popped up saying "app has stopped, info or close". This happens every few minutes all day and night. It also puts up notices about battery usage constantly and it wont stop no matter what is selected in display and notification settings, the same for NFC settings. Why the hell would anyone want NFC settings 24/7 across your screen? You wouldn't, it blocks your usage of the phone. And round in circles we go again!! All this means that when you want to use the phone you cant because there's a dozen notifications in the way. It is an Android mess.If a call comes in and you try to pick up the phone, invariably the act of trying to pick up such a heavy and impossibly slippery smooth textured phone,, results in it being fired out of your hand like a wet bar of soap, or you manage to keep hold but only by activating any number of the persistent and annoying android notifications on screen. Either way, you fail to answer the call. This is supposed to be a phone, yet using it as one, is one of the most difficult things to do with it. The speakers designed to provide sound to your ears during a call are in completely the wrong place to achieve the goal, so it takes a fair amount of moving the phone around your face until you find an area where the sound is by your ear. Again - this is supposed to be a phone and yet the phone side of it is very low down the list of priorities for this device. So how about video from that high spec camera setup? Well, yesterday I was stopped at a railway crossing. A steam locomotive was coming so I thought I'd video it. The nuisance Android took soooo long to allow me to use video recording that the train had gone by the time it was possible to record. Bearing in mind that I stopped as the lights started flashing, before the gates of the railway crossing even came down. So we're talking minutes not seconds to get this pain in the .... phone to do what Iwanted. Since then I have successfully recorded a video but it is terrible. Very very jerky and stuttery and almost impossible to watch as it is very uncomfortable watching such an erratic mess. The symptom is similar to using an underpowered processor or memory that is not capable of manipulating data fast enough for the video file being generated. Whatever the reason, it is yet another example of high spec hardware that does not work - what else can it be but the operating system - Android! So I can't neither use the Doogee as a phone nor a camera which makes it a very expensive paperweight. This annoys me as I hate Iphone - but I have no choice but to have one as unlike Android devices, it works as intended. In my experience this has always been a growing problem with Android when compared to Ios devices. I want to take a quick snap shot but cant, I get a quick blur or an app so slow to respond whilst focusing that the event has passed before you get to take the pic or video.Battery life is debateable. First full charge dropped to 30% in 3 days with little usage. The second charge dropped to 70% in 3 days. I have no idea why such a big difference, most likely all the bloated google nonsense running in androids background, I guess. That life is still far superior to an Iphone but no where near as good as the Oukitel rugged android phone being replaced by the Doogee which has a battery of less than half the Doogee's capacity, but a much older and better version of Android. Yet again, I believe the phone is at the mercy of a dreadful Android, draining its battery by constantly doing stuff it shouldn't be doing.Just unlocked the phone this second to check it and discovered a notification warning about an unsent txt message. A txt I thought I had sent over an hour ago! So the notification I actually needed to see live was not displayed and yet all the rubbish about battery usage and NFC etc is constantly displayed. It really is a true mess of an operating system. So a very disappointing introduction to Doogee that ended with me returning the phone. Shame - it does look awesome.

Powerhouse
I am a sole trader who is on site 6/7 days a week in dirty dusty wet properties and this phone is well up for anything I can throw at it. It's BIG so if you are used to standard sized phones like I was it will be a shock, but honestly it is well worth it. The main reason I bought this phone however was for the almighty huge battery, it didn't matter what brand of phone I had and how many battery saving options I had turned on, I just could not make a normal phone last a whole day, which when you are on a site with no power to charge a phone, it is a problem. My phone's take very heavy usage through the day with constant emails, phone calls and searching for suppliers to buy materials. This phone however lasts 4 days without a charge and still has some left to give. No more panicking when the battery is at 20% because realistically with this phone, that means you've got another 24 hours of heavy use!! Don't be put off either thinking it will be slow or glitchy as I've always owned big brand flagship phones and in comparison I'm really not noticing any difference, I will have 10-15 apps running in the background with no lag or no issues. The camera seems spot on with some good quality images, the sound quality is good and loud even if you don't have the bass of some other phones but it really is no problem for what I used this phone for. Altogether this is a powerhouse phone that I hope will last me a long time, but even if it doesn't for the price I would be more than happy to buy another. Risk it you won't be disappointed.
