Silver Brush Limited 3000S-10 Black Velvet Round Paintbrush for Watercolor, Gouache, Inks, & Dyes, Size 10, Short Handle

This size 10 brush is great for everything from washes to details. It is extremely responsive and a joy to use. While they tend to be on the soft side, I find some of the Black Velvet brushes to be intermediate; not too soft and not too stiff (and I generally prefer the latter). This brush has a full, plump body and holds plenty of water and pigment. Yet it also holds a wonderfully sharp and accurate point, great for drawing and details. It is a great value for the price and If I could keep only one of my many brushes this would probably be it. Highly recommended.

It's such an easy brush to paint with. It holds a lot of water, it's versatile and it makes it possible to do precision painting with a sharp tip.

I'm on day 2 of painting with my new Rd 10 Silver Black Velvet brush and I am very pleased with the designof the fine tip point. I have only been painting for about 4 yrs now. I chose brushes I could buy locally and have been fine with using them, but, Wow! I sure wish all my brushes had the tips like Silver Black Velvet. I now have a rd 2, rd 10 and a travel voyage rd 4 and I highly recommend these brushes.

I was intrigued by this brush: It promises to have a mixture of synthetic hair (for snap and shape) and natural squirrel hair for water retention and volume). To my pleasant surprise this is so far the brush I’ve been most happy with for the money! It keeps a point better than the more expensive synthetic sable brushes that I own from Escoda and it holds more paint/water than similarly priced synthetic only brushes. Also admittedly least importantly, it’s beautiful to look at. All this at a price that is average for a decent but not super high end synthetic brush. It seems like the best of both worlds for price performance so far. I cannot stop marveling at this brush!

I call this my murder brush because when I first started watercolor painting, I thought I'd stick to synthetics only. But... despite being only half synthetic, half actual squirrel, I couldn't resist the temptation. People talk about how if they could only ever use one brush, it would be this one, and I totally agree. It's AMAZING. It holds a lot of water and pigment, and washes are so much easier and come out so much smoother. And it's got a nice point for details. I don't know how to describe it other than that everything is just easier with this brush. I got it in a size 10 and am not disappointed.

This is a very nice brush that holds a lot of water. The tip is very fine and I can get nice thin lines. It's perfect for washes as well and the release of the water is consistent with the pressure applied.The only critique I have is that is very very soft. I hoped the blend of synthetic would help with the softness of the squirrel hair, but the brush has little to no snap. And because of the cut of the bristles, when you're done swiping the brush on the paper, if you don't rewet it to get the shape back, the bristles split and will screw up a fine line because the hairs are all over the place. I'm okay with rewetting the brush, but if you paint with a dryer brush, you'd probably hate this one.
