Excellent device if you need to see the same picture (or input) on 4 different displays (outputs)
IMPORTANT NOTE : Whilst this does support dual monitors for devices like laptops, the important thing to note is that it does NOT allow you to extend the screen so that the two screens appear as one when you are working on your device. All this does is mirror the same input signal to up to 4 different outputs (or screens/monitors) so that you see the same picture on all 4 outputs and that is all it does. Also please not that the little button on the front of the splitter is a reset button - and NOT a button to allow you to select different outputs, purely because all this is doing is showing you the same picture on all 4 outputs so there is no need for that kind of switching functionality. This is a very well built HDMI splitter that provides you with 1 input and 4 identical outputs. The casing has a nice rounded off design with a slight beveled silver edge on both sides, making this look a lot nicer than your standard black box solutions, and you can actually get this is black and grey finishes. It supports HDMI v1.4 and is also backwards compatible with all the earlier versions. I like the fact that the input and all the output ports are on one side as this helps keep your cabling a lot tidier. The other side has all the status indicator lights for the power and the input & output ports. You can have this side facing forward with all the cables going out the back. There are a couple of things that I don't like on this and would like to see them improved in later versions. The first thing is that it only supports 4K at 30 Hz. As a minimum I would like to see this support 4K at 60 Hz as that is going to give you a much smoother picture as most devices out there will support this refresh rate. The second thing that I would like to see improved is the power interface. This still has the old and somewhat dated Micro USB port on it, and you have to make sure you have the power connector facing the right way or it won't go in. This really needs to be a USB C interface as that seems to be the standard in the industry now, and you can plug that in either way, which just makes life that little bit easier.

Super bit of kit for multiple displays
At my woodturning club we have a monthly meeting where an expert from around the country shows us a particular type or range of techniques. We usually have about 80 members so there is a very strong metal lighting truss above the demo area that holds lights, cameras and large TV Screens. We needed to update the creaky old video cameras and replace the two 43-Inch TV Screens on the top of the truss. We really wanted to take advantage of new technologies and decided that a mixture of HDMI screens and control with PoE (Power over Ethernet) cameras would make a major improvement compared to the rats nest of wires and connectors we had.PoE took the signals from the 4 x PTZ cameras back to the control desk and, because we wanted 3 connected displays (2 x 50-Inch and 1 x 7-Inch so the demonstrator could see what was being shown) all showing the same picture, all we had to do was run an HDMI link out of the controller box at the back of the hall into a HDMI > HDMI over Ethernet adapter back to the truss, switch back to HDMI with the paired adapter and then split the single HDMI signal into 3 to go to the displays. This little 1>4 (one HDMI input to four HDMI outputs) worked perfectly after a couple of test runs, and we still have the spare 4th HDMI output for a future HDMI projector idea. A projected projector if you like.Downside was making sure we could get a suitable 5v USB power supply for the splitter, but at least the splitter came with the USB-A to micro-USB cable. One star off for not including a power supply, but we understand the reasons why.

Great value and simple to set up
This 4-way HDMI splitter is great value and very simple to use. It's housed in a small aluminium box approximately 116 x 60 x 17 mm with the HDMI outputs and input at the rear and the micro USB power input at the front together with 5 indicator lights. The device comes with an 80cm micro USB power cable. but no USB power supply.Setting up the splitter is simplicity itself; just apply power and plug in the HDMI input and up to four HDMI outputs. The device supports a resolution of up to 4K @30Hz. If different resolution output devices are used then it will sync to the lower resolution device, but this should be plugged in first. I was unable to test this with the total compliment of four 4k devices, but I have little doubt that it would work.

A very useful and easy to use splitter - Check the Spec's for high end Home Cinema use though
A potentially very useful splitter for all sorts of things in a home cinema or high-tech house. The good is that it is really easy to install and set up, runs off USB power and successfully split /shared a range of video material from TV, old DVD's up to 4K UHD blu-ray material in normal HD and UHD quality. If you are going to watch the output on an ordinary TV you can stop here - the splitter will be great for that and you can be happy. For the 0.5% of Cinema-Sound geeks reading this:The sales info correctly says it supports DTS-HD/ Do-bly-true HD/ DTS/ Do-bly-AC3, DSD to which of course I can add basic PCM stereo, mono etc. Some well known higher 'cinema quality' audio standards (DTS-HD master audio lossless or Dolby Atmos were tested ) are not on that list though.I hopefully tried them anyway and on test I wasn't able to make it output split audio on those . You get a split picture but no split audio until you force a lower audio standard into use or re-arrange the system wiring.Probably not going to bother 99.5% of people but do check all your sound system requirements are on the listOverall a simple easy to install splitter for 99.5% of uses and users
