These are wonderful
Wanted a vintage sound for my Fender MIM J Bass. Replaced from standard Player series J Bass pickups. They sound great, were easy to install. The tone dial is much more prominent with these than with the old pickups, mid-range is growling, which is very nice, the ALNICO magnets are larger than with the older pickups, making them louder even with delicate fretting/picking.Had some issues understanding which one is the bridge pickup because it doesn't say that anywhere, (there is blue/red marking, but nothing on which one is which). I sent Fender an email and received a very quick reply - red is the bridge, BTW.All in all, when considering the price, sound and build quality, this is a fine purchase!

Reasonable price, great tone
I so far have these installed in 2 of my Jazz basses in the pursuit of copying Geddy Lee's modern Jazz Bass tone and I have to say with the right EQ and strings these will get you in that ballpark whether your Jazz bass has 60's or 70's pickup spacing. They have a lot of upper mid grind without getting too shrill and a decent bottom end punch to even things out. They also respond well to distortion for those who use it. The old school solid core wires also make for easy installation, and they even provide grounding plates to install with the pickups if you're into that kind of thing. The provided pickup covers are also very nice, they have a great shine and slightly rounded edges just like most stock Fender pickups. I will likely be buying more sets of these in the future as they have become a core part of my sound and very few off the shelf basses have pickups that sound like this. Before you spend $300 on a set of Tom Brantley pickups, I'd give these a try.

Turning Squier to real sound pro
Original pickups sounded good, but no bottom to link with the drums, this 74's Jazz pickups turned it to super fit sound to any application.

Wow! The growl and punch!
I put these pickups in a MIM Fender Geddy Lee Jazz and they sound more like his bass than the factory pickups. Beautiful growl, nice mid range punch and just like a jazz should sound. Played thru my Ampeg amp, wow...bass heaven! I love the way they sound. The package comes with two grounding plates to help with the shielding, nice touch Fender! I had tried a set of SD 1/4 pounder jazz pickups and they were more of a modern punch, and I wanted the vintage punch. So I was looking at these and the Fender Custom Shop '60s Jazz, but these were $100 or so cheaper, so I went with these and I am 100% happy I did! Thank you Fender for making my Fender Jazz bass sound like it was meant to!
