Nikon 105mm AF-S VR 105 f/2.8G IF-ED Micro Prime Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Camera (Black)

I was struggling with my photography skills and on internet to get the best Macro lens.As I am a fan of Nikon and all my cameras are Nikon only .I decided to stick with this one.I have used tamaron 90mm micro lens and canon 1:5 macro.Based on aboveMy Opinion are for thoses who are pro and as well as amateurMacro:1Auto focus is not good enough during macro2VR is good but in macro u need your steady hand not every time lens will do a correction3no matters whether you are a newbee or a skilled photographer this lens will do its best for macro.Rest depend upon the gadgets (viz ring flash extension tube etc)you use with piece of macro beast.PortraitI personally feel 85mm is the perfect lens for portrait for full frame segment,and 50mm for DX format.This lens change my prospective.I feel 105 is also a good option for portrait specially when you are out door and subject can move lil bit backwards to adjust the lens.Bokeh:9/10 for both macro and portraitNote: If you are going too close to your subject for macros,you have compromise on f stops.Please dont blame lens for this It is simple physics and you cannot change the law of physicsOverall 4.9/5.1 for autofocus fix

The lens quality is awesome, got a genuine orignal product. Using it with my Nikon D500 and it works fine.One of the best lens for Macro photographyAuto focus is awesome and very fast. The built quality is awesome. Best bye in this price range. Got it delivered with a day and the orignal nikon boxing with sealed.

I bought this after reading a lot of article and photo research. This lens has a fast focus and gives a sharp image.

It is an excellent lens. Both for Macro and Portrait photography. Razor sharp from corner to corner.

Obviously the lens is good since its from Nikon, but buy it if you are really into macro photography and patient enough.This lens has completely changed my concept of focusing.Its a real pain to keep everything in focus unless the subject is flat and lies on a single focal plane although this is true for any macro lens whatsoever.Autofocus is good though but you wont usw autofocus in macro,otherwise for portrait its ok,but there are many better options for potrait if you have a z mountProsExceptional Built QualityGood stabilisationOne of the best lens for macro photographyNo aberrations,fringing etcOutstanding image qualityConsSharpness is not that good on Z mount, but good enough for F Mount,dont go for it if you have Z mountNot value for money if you have a z mount,considering dedicated s line lens is now available for z.

I bought this lens. But I think I made a mistake buying it. It's a great lens no doubt about it, add it with Extension rings and its amazing marco. 5x kinda magnification.

taking some snap auto focous does not work

My dream lens. Finally i bought it. Yet to do a detailed testing. Took a couple of shots. Well.. not feeling exuberant.. but it is too early to come to a conclusion. Will update this review after some more tests. Posted my test shots. No cropping. just reduced the size.
