Yes, you screw the pieces together, it’s quite simple though.

Q: Can you place a board on top to make a shelf with laundry hanging underneath?

I could not place one on top of mine

No all the parts came in my package. Found out what was in the package wasn’t strong enough had to run to Home Depot and get stronger bolts. Love just love the item though.

Ok, there is a middle part if you get a longer or shorter with the same screw-in pattern then yes. I mean if the peace you want to replace it with is also male or female whichever it is then yes
