Taste | With the first sip of Fernet-Branca, the natural bitter taste of Fernet Branca and its herbs presents itself to the palette. There is an unexpected softness as the initial taste settles and the bitter taste becomes almost tannic. Sweeter, more delicate notes of plants and flowers come through, whilst the bitter taste lingers in the background. |

A classic herbal taste / mix it with Coca Cola
I have purchased this before and had it as a digestif in Italy and found it very strong and enjoyable. However, after a trip to Argentina I have discovered that they mix it with Coca-Cola like fanatics and I became hooked. The mint and bitterness combined with the sweet Coca-Cola is the perfect summer refresher and if you look passed the weird scum it makes in the glass, it is a nice way to sip a summers afternoon away.On its own, I enjoy it but only in moderation! It helps with stomach issues after a long or greasy meal and I think it is worth the money to have a bottle tucked in the cupbaord for special occasions.Mixed or neat, definitely a great drink if not an acquired taste. But it is certainly a taste I have acquired!

Very unusual taste
Well, this drink is definitely an acquired taste. It reminds me of the time I first tried Benidictine 45 years ago. I found that unpleasant but now it is my favourite. Spirit. This drink is nothing like Benidictine. My first impressions are that it seems to have a bit of an aniseed taste with faint cloves. I can see that it is a digestif for the stomach, an after meal sipper. Not one to take to a party. Would I buy it again? I will only be able to answer that when I have finished the bottle but I do have expectations this one will grow on me. Definitely worth trying.

The King of Bitters Digestif
Fernet Branca is an exceptional Italian digestif that stands out in the world of spirits. Its distinct blend of herbs and spices creates a complex, multi-layered flavor profile that is both intriguing and satisfying. At 39% ABV, it's strong but not overpowering, making it a perfect after-dinner drink. The taste is an acquired one - initially bitter with hints of myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, and a subtle undertone of saffron. However, the complexity of flavors unfolds beautifully, leaving a long-lasting, pleasantly herbal aftertaste. Fernet Branca is not just a beverage; it's an experience, best enjoyed slowly to appreciate its depth and character. It's also versatile, serving as an excellent base for cocktails. While it may not cater to everyone's palate, for those who appreciate bitter, herbal spirits, Fernet Branca is a must-try. Its reputation as a digestif that aids digestion is a bonus, making it a staple in my home bar.

Amazing
This is my 4 time purchase and I never get weary of buying it. It does what it says in the bottle. It really helps my heartburn and indigestion. It has a very bitter taste which maybe makes it so effective. I can taste all the herbs! To me, it is more like a natural herbal medicine. I love the strong taste. It even helps me to sleep well. I just love it. Highly recommended.

Great Italian Bitter
I drink this straight after a heavy meal as a digestif, it works well, probably due to peppermint in it. I have also drank it the Argentinian way (Salud!) and it is rather compelling, and the flavours, sweetness of the cola etc is balanced really well by the bitterness of the Fernet. I don't drink fizzy drinks like Coke much though for health reasons, otherwise I would drink more this way. Overall a great digestif, and very unique, but is an acquired taste so try and sample it before if you can.

An acquired taste.
What can you say about Fernet Branca? It's a 39% proof Italian liqueur.Taste wise, it's interesting. The first taste you get is menthol and liquorice, this soon gives way to an earthy, tree bark taste. Slightly reminiscent of Jagermeister, but to me, Fernet Branca is much more drinkable. As I say, it's interesting. It is considered a post meal digestif, and it works very well as that.I find it strangely addictive, in the same way that hot spicy good is. Drinking it is not exactly pleasurable, but you look forward to the next time.Apparently in South America, they have it with coke? Never tried it myself, but maybe it's nice. Not really a coke fan.I like it neat, after a heavy meal, or as a little night cap to slowly sip.You could certainly use it in any cocktail that calls for 'bitters'.Overall, I will definitely be buying another bottle when this one is gone. It's undoubtedly a taste that you need to get used to, but if you like bitter things, this could be one for you.I hope you found this review helpful.
