Been wanting one of these for a long time, and I really like it. Did a bit of comparison research first and this one really fits our need as a family of 3 with casual use for ice in dinner glasses, etc. I've always LOVED crunchin' "Sonic style" ice, and now I can make it myself at home.The freezer was packed very well so it shipped great without any imperfections. It's advised to wait at least 24 hours to use it (I read further online that it's even more advisable to maybe wait a bit longer, 48 hours actually, to assure the compressor oil and liquid refrigerants trickle down to where they belong and protect it for the longest service life (like breaking in a new car properly). After waiting a couple days, we tested it. I'm opting to only put bottled distilled water to also care for it by reducing contaminants and scale.Operation is pretty simple, and boy, the ice is perfect. Nice, neat little nuggets to crunch and keep soda's cold. It doesn't take long to begin to make ice, and while it may take about 10-15 minutes to make a large glass-full (like a tumbler) of ice, it's easy enough to just turn it on ahead of time and let it tick away until the basket's full, and it'll keep refilling it as you grab bits to use. The speed at which it produces ice may be a bit slow for a very large, demanding family, but for us, it's plenty quick/abundant enough.I haven't had it long enough to test the cleaning cycle, but I'm sure it'll do fine. I'm used to the process having a Keurig, which has similar routine upkeep for cleaning, conditioning. I plan to keep the dedicated solutions on hand, and they say it's needed about once every 2 weeks. Easy enough.It's not terribly inexpensive, but it should pay for itself in a few months for me, because I'll be cutting out a lot of drive-thru sodas when I can truly duplicate them at home now with less expensive 2-liters and this ice machine.Anyway, recommended!

I purchased this ice maker back in November 2024. It made the nugget ice fairly quickly. I would just run it one day and dump the ice it into freezer bags when the tray would fill up. It is a little loud but not bad. Very easy to use.In July 2025 the motor that turns to kick the ice out stopped working. I reached out to the manufacturer and had a new ice machine in less than 2 weeks. I am very pleased with this product.

This machine does what I need it to do and it was a good buy for me. I'm one person and I make enough ice at one time to get through tomorrow at most. That's fine for me, however, as for having ice within only a few minutes is a bit misleading. Yes, you'll see the first cubes in only a few minutes but it's about 30 minutes before having enough to fill a glass. I've found that if I use water that's been in the fridge it's a bit faster. It doesn't make alot of noise. There's a hum, but there's no beep when it full so it just goes off if you don't respond within several minutes. It doesn't keep the ice frozen so it's best to get it out while it's still making more. Filling it with water 2x will make a freezer sized ziplock. Fyi. Altogether I recommend this for a small household but not for a party. And BTW the ice is fab!

Works fast. Makes all the ice I could ever need! Very simple to use. The 'self cleaning" is a bit deceptive. After the cleaning cycle, you still need to drain the machine and clean out the reservoir, but that's simple enough. My biggest problem with this ice machine is how loud it is. I live in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment and this machine keeps me up at night. I never really realized exactly how loud it is until the power went out the other day and I realized how quiet my home had become. I am now trying to decide if the noise is worth keeping the machine.

I purchased my machine over a year ago. It mostly runs nonstop 16 to 18 hrs a day. We love it. My husband was a bit skeptical as unlike me he’s not an ice heater about the nuggets ability to keep his drinks cold or melt too fast. It works great. He said he wished it made ice a little faster as far as filling the basket…..but when someone eats it by the bucket like me it doesn’t stay filled. Of course, I’ve seen reviews and laughed, about tge fact Ice doesn’t stay frozen. Of course it does but you have to use it within a reasonable time, it is not a freezer. It simply will just melt back down into the water week & be remade as ice again. If no plan to use it for a while, you will want a couple freezer bags and fill those for the freezer.😁If it does and at some point probably will, I will definitely be getting another one. Doesn’t take a lot of space, easy to clean, produces great product to ice eaters (and for icing your tea or soda)

I purchased this ice maker last summer and worked just fine out the box. I especially like to type of ice it produces, like the type you get at Sonics.I live in an RV and the baby refrigerators you get are small and work well sometimes but ice is a luxury. This is small enough to make tiny and precious counter space worth it.A couple of weeks ago, after running for a couple hours it started making a loud squealing noise and the motor started laboring. In a panic (I like my ice) I sent an email to the company and asked for suggestions. They responded quickly and ask if I could send a video? Being a man of "a certain age" I steeled myself and managed to send a short video illustrating the problem.To my complete surprise, the next email I got from them, they wrote they would send me a new unit right away. Let that sink in, they actually unambiguously stood behind their product.For the life of me, I cannot remember any company or customer service just say, we will fix this, no questions ask It is sad but oh so refreshing to find an organization that in today's world does this.I cannot recommend more Silonn. They are outstanding.
