Great dog food for dogs with allergies
I started using this food because my dog's allergies started to get really bad - had to start taking expensive pills & even that wasn't helping. Ended up at the emergency vet clinic on a Saturday due to an infection on the skin, and that is when I started researching dog food. I came across a site that talked about a pill that helped with dog allergies but they stated the most important thing was the dog food you use. It gave a bunch of dog food options and so that is how I stumbled upon this dog food. I decided to try this food & so far it is working great for my dog. I did not try the pills the site was trying to sell, just switched my dogs food and it made a HUGE difference. She actually had old hair fall out in clumps when she first started on this food - the old hair had old skin cells attached to it - very gross. but then new hair growth came in and it was very soft. I didn't realize the stinky smell from my dog was due to her dog food until I made the switch and with the new hair coming in she started smelling better too. She had what looked like an old dog callous (she's 11) but with the new dog food that area cleared up and now has fresh dog hair. She also had problems with her eyes getting cloudy, a specialist said it was because her body could not process fats correctly, instead the fats were depositing on her eyes and would probably cause her to go blind. He said the best thing for her is to only eat very low fat dog food (prescription grade) and no treats. My dog was not overweight at all but I still followed those orders & that is how I believe she ended up with such bad allergies. With this dog food her eyes actually seem better, definitely not getting worse. They will probably never be fully clear again but at least I don't have to worry about the cloudy covering causing her to lose her eye sight anymore. The single protein & single grain is what's best about this dog food. My regular vet said that is what is best to look for. I highly recommend this dog food. It is a little expensive, although compared to prescription food it is cheaper than what I was paying. It is so worth it!

Very good product, not always the best packing.
This is a great single protein source kibble with no additives or preservatives. It's regularly ranked high in dog food reviews and if you have a dog who doesn't tolerate grain free like my dog, this is a good alternative. They also make a grain free version as well. We've tried both the salmon and the duck and have had no issues with either flavor. My one complaint isn't about the product but rather about the shipping. A 25lb bag is an unwieldy thing and it seems no matter who ships it, they simply put it in a large flat cardboard box with little padding. I've had several bags arrive torn or with small holes. But since I have no access to it locally, I have no choice but to either continue to order it and have it shipped or change brands and buy locally. It's worth it to me to order it and hope the shipping department pays attention to my notes.

$10 Price Increase in One Year. Love the Food. Not Sure About Tuffy's
I've been feeding my mini schnauzer the duck and oatmeal formula for years, maybe five. I've fed him other Pure VIta varieties and he loves them all. He will really eat anything, including gross things. I think his digestion does best on the duck and oatmeal. I first started feeding him this diet when his skin showed symptoms of allergies. I could never narrow down exactly what the allergy is but my vet and I suspect it is fillers, preservatives, or grains, and I avoid chicken because the processing makes it a common culprit. He does well on this clean food. Occasionally I will allow someone to give him a cheap treat, the kind you get at the grocery store. And then, my dog gets a rash and has stinky farts. I only mention that because his farts and poop have almost no smell when I feed him a clean diet with Pure Vita food.I'm not happy that Tuffy's has raised the price $10 since last year. I may begin to buy this locally again. I only started ordering online because it was cheaper. However, I learned that it is also more convenient. The food is packaged well and delivered quickly.

Dog loves it
Bella has only one tooth - a molar in the back. She needs soft food. Also, at 16 years, she needs good ingredients that are easy on her digestive system. With a little warm water added, this is the perfect diet.

Best food ever!
My dog has irritable bowel disease and she loves this food!! She is a very finicky eater on top of her tummy problems. She has been eatin Pure Vita for 6 years now and it is the best food out there! She prefers the Bison or the Duck formulas.

This is a great dog food. I received my package fast and in a timely manner. My dogs almost attack me for this food when I open the bag! From what I've been told it is one of the best dog foods available.
