An unmissable whodunnit!
Even years later after Bear Van Laar disappears, it sends a chill down the spine, to think about an eight year old boy who suddenly vanished into thin air in those deep dark woods. The case although closed, not many seem convinced. When ten years later Barbara Van Laar (Bear's sister) aged thirteen disappears in those very woods, things don't seem so simple. People talk but none reveal what they truly believe. Will history repeat itself? The author weaves a mesmerising setting in those mysterious dark woods. From the Camp Emerson to the Van Laars rich, ruthless lifestyle every aspect spells and smells sinister. A whodunnit you will not be able to resist. I found myself rooting for Alice (mother of the children). Her angst, grief felt so real and relatable. The stone cold Peters II and III sharply eerie and lend to the story perfectly. Investigating officer Judtya carries the primary torch through this endless search. The climax came together in a way that I never once suspected. All in all a fabulous whodunnit.

Fascinating Page-Turner
Definitely out of the box thriller. Profoundly built characters. Unique style of writing. At the very end, all the long drawn pages did seem a bit too much and maybe a bit unnecessary, but then this was a full fledged drama series sort of book. As I said, unique writing, appreciate the work put in by the author.

The God of the woods
Slow, but interesting. Took more than 10 days to complete but it was worth it.

Not a good thriller, unnecessarily stretched to 435 pages in a very small irritating font.
After some raving reviews about the book I bought this. But to my surprise after 200 pages I choose to read the summary in google. Unnecessarily the story was dragged to 435 pages that too in a very small irritating font. A story which could have summarised in 300 pages with this font dragged too much. Unnecessary back stories for all characters. Still I thought I will find something interesting. Am in page 318, that too 3rd day. Usually I finish off thrillers in a day at a stretch. But this one is not keeping me hooked. The story is good but not enough to keep you hooked, the author stretched it too much leaving to lose interest in midway.

An average book
Though the narrative is well written in different time lines, it falls short at its conclusion. That's my reason for the 3 stars.A complex range of characters and an engaging story keep you turning the pages. But as is usually seen in long wrought plots , very rarely the author seems to do justice to the efforts taken when it comes to concluding the twisted knots. But it's worth a read.

Absolute garbage!!!!
Haven't read a worse book. Saw somewhere that "Obama" called it the book of the year. Is this the same 'Obama"? If it is then I will have to revise my opinion about him. I'm sorry that I actually read all of the book.
