A shocking bit of fun from this prank box
The media could not be loaded. I’ve seen these spider prank boxes online and thought I'd give it a try to scare the family a bit, and it certainly worked! My husband refused to touch it, being highly sensitive to getting jump scared, but my supposedly fearless 13 year old leapt almost to the ceiling. Result! It’s basically a small wooden box where the sliding lid is attached to a plastic spider inside the box. Pulling the lid open causes the attached spider to spring out of the box, right onto the opener’s hand (cue screams). It's one of those things that's so simple in its design but so effective and it's great fun. It’s cheaply made, possibly won’t last forever, but do you really need it to? It does the trick it was intended for and is perfect for Halloween fun. It's possibly priced a little higher than other similar boxes, so I'd look at this being brought in line to be more competitively priced if I wanted to purchase a new one, but this doesn't take away from what a great little item this is.

It's fun but the quality is not the best
The spider prank box is good idea but the quality of the product is novelty the best. The box is cheaply made, a bit not straight. The lid is cut out not straight. But at least the spider mechanism works satisfyingly well. My daughter got pranked by this toy, she hates spiders.Overall, the box could be better quality so then it could last longer. It feels fragile and the inner mechanism could get easily damaged.

Very basic - care needed when sliding back!
This is a basic light wood box with a sliding top. As you pull the top back a plastic spider is flung up. Cue screams! At least that is the theory. The spider may need a little wipe down as mine was very dusty and dulled as a result. There is also a bit of pot luck as to whether the spider reaches the top of the box easily or whether it sticks half-way. This seems to depend on how it is put back in the box after the scare - it is easily knocked out of alignment. As a cheap prank it hits the right notes although whether it has any longevity I wouldn't like to say.

Poorly made
Very poorly made the lid on the box kept sticking which defeats the point of the box.

Poor quality thin wood with splinters, mine was damaged on arrival, not recommended
This spider box joke arrived wrapped in white plastic. The joke is simple, a wooden box is opened at the top, and then a spider jumps out and lands on the persons hand. It sounds like a good idea and would be a great joke in theory. Unfortunately, the joke is very poor quality and mine was broken on arrival. The box is smaller than I expected and measures just 9cm long, which means it can fit into the palm of your hand. The wood is extremely thin, about the same thickness as a matchbox – the wood is so thin, you could easily break it. The wood has not been finished smoothly, so the edges and surfaces are rough with splinters sticking up, and does not fit together properly.Inside there is a small black rubber spider attached to a metal rod, this is attached to a piece of rotating wood inside, and there is a piece of string that attaches to the lid. Unfortunately mine was completely broken, the string was snapped and the spider was dead inside the box. There was no way to repair it. Even if the box and spider was working as intended, it is just too poor quality with rough wood all over. Not recommended.
