Attractive activity toy.
This toy arrives flat packed. It needs to be screwed together using the screws provided. Made in Indonesia from rubberwood. This is my first experience of rubberwood and I glad to see it being used. Not only is this wood sustainable, but it makes use of wood from older rubber plantation trees which would previously have been burned. A big plus environmentally. The wood is dense and strong, but not of the highest grade. There is significant colour variation in the wood of the unpainted base. There are also some signs of cracking and some rough spots. In spite of this I would expect the toy to last for a generation. The toy is well finished. Smooth all round, with no splinters or sharp edges. Well painted and the glitter stays in place. It is a pleasant object to look at.The unicorn does not give a child the smoothest of rides, but it will help with balance and motor skills. We also like it it because it fits in nicely with the collection of other unicorn toys and books which we have.Overall, an attractive, fun toy that will help with a child's development. More ethical than most, although I would like to see some tangible evidence that the factory is as ethical as Le Toy Van claims.

Flat Pack Fun
As a parent you begin to dread Christmas Eve. Whilst the children are abed and the grandparents sit merry in front of a Morecambe and Wise rerun, the parents get not such rest bite. Think of these poor souls as they spend the night building flat pack toys and making sure everything has batteries included. It only takes one Christmas morning full of tears for you to never forget to be prepared again. The 'Rocking Unicorn Carousel' by Le Toy Van is a wonderful toy, but you are going to want to build it the day before a birthday or Christmas, as a pile of wooden limbs does not go down as well. This Unicorn is a quality piece of painted wood and comes at a quality price. Perhaps at a point that I would expect to buy it built. This is not the case. Thankfully, it is a relatively easy build. The wood is used from a sustainable source adding a little bonus positive vibe. A child is not going to be too worried about that (yet), they are more bothered how it looks and plays. The look is fantastic, nice detailing with clean colouring. The Unicorn looks like it wants to be ridden. The ride itself is old school rocking i.e. a little jerky on the back and forth. It is smoother on a carpeted surface. This is worth doing anyway should your child fall off at all. With its inviting smile and classic movement this 'Rocking Unicorn' is an instant hit with an older baby and older toddler. Just make sure you build it first before they see it.

Fabulous Piece Of Woodwork
First of all WOW! What an amazing rocking horse/unicorn! I made this is in around 15 minutes which is surprising for so many pieces. The rubberwood is sourced from trees that have already served a purpose for whatever reason meaning tress aren’t just ripped down to make this but as they use tress they usually plant more trees on a use one plant one process I believe but with higher numbers. That should explain a little about the material used. So, is the price of £79.99 worth spending on this item? Yes is the answer. Reason being is the wood is responsibly sourced, treated to protect itself from fungi and/or woodworm etc plus its built by a very high end brand. The photos I have included show the finished product with the black thing i. The middle being an iPad Pro 11” to give you a rough idea of the size of the toy. The base including stamp markings. The product in the open box before building it and finally a photo of the actual wood for reference. The print is very well marked and it seems as though it should stay put for a long while even with a little bit of rough play on it.Overall - You will get a very high end product for your money as well as many years and generations creating memories on this little beauty.

Ethical and Beautiful
This carousel inspired rocking horse (unicorn) is a wonderful gift for a child aged 1-3. It is made from rubberwood which I had never heard of before. I was delighted to discover that it is a sustainable wood, a very relevant fact in the times we live in, whilst at the same time it is very strong and looks as if it will last a long time. The box is quite heavy so that is indicative of its sturdiness before you even open it! It requires minimal assembly, it took me less than an hour and I'm not a big DIYer.It is beautifully decorated in pastel yellow, pinks and blues with gold finishing and glitter too; a lot of thought and effort has obviously gone into how it looks and your child will be beaming when they see it made. The paint is non toxic which is important as children can have a tendency to lick or put toys in their mouth their when playing so it is reassuring that this is safe. The rocker itself is very gentle so all ages will be comfortable and it encourages children to learn about balance. It is built so that it will not topple over but it's always a good idea to have adult supervision when children are using it.Le Toy Van have created another wonderful experience for children, this is a wonderful contemporary twist on a classic toy. They are a company I am very happy to recommend.
