Took the metal detector on holiday to Kenya, packed it in the checked suitcase with no trouble at the airport. Security just asked about batteries, so took them out and packed them separately. Detector is lightweight and fits in luggage, so no hassle bringing it along.Used it on the beach and around the hotel grounds. Screen is big and clear, so could see the settings and signals even in bright sun. Four modes help pick out coins, jewellery, or just general metal bits. Pinpoint mode is useful for narrowing down where to dig, saves time and effort. Handle adjusts for different heights, so everyone in the family had a go, from kids to adults.Coil is waterproof, so tried it in shallow water. Found a few coins, bottle caps, and even a small bracelet. Shovel that comes in the box is handy for digging in sand and soil. Headphones help when it’s noisy, so didn’t miss any signals. Battery lasted the whole week, even with daily use and some night hunting with the backlight on.Detector feels sturdy and doesn’t feel heavy after a long session. Assembly is quick, just a few minutes and it’s ready to go. Instructions are clear, so no problem getting started as a beginner. Didn’t have any issues with interference, and it picked up small items at a good depth.Very pleased. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Would certainly recommend. Great value for the price.

The media could not be loaded. I am a complete novice at this, but I can tell you this metal detector has been worth every penny. I can't believe how effective it has been.I took it to the beaches on holiday and it was a huge success, my wife wanting to try it ended up searching with it longer than me.The item is listed as detecting upto 10 or 11 inches in depth, maybe that's in dense soil/earth, but in sand it easily hit that and deeper and we dug several holes elbow deep.The construction of the equipment is really easy and is sturdy when put together, which is done in a minute.The bag you receive is super handy to carry it in, that said its very light.The collapsible shovel does a superb job in sand, in fact its perfect for that environment.Our first rimes using it, we have found items dating back to late 1800 / early 1900, which was beyond expectations.The item arrived with two 9v batteries, I opted to buy some well known brand ones and use them. I have so far been using the metal detector with the same batteries for around 10-12hrs and the battery level says there is still 2 of the 4 bars left, that includes 2hrs at night with the back-light on.I would have no hesitation recommending this to another first time enthusiast, it is probably a pretty decent back up for the more experienced detectorist as well.Lightweight, sturdy, easy to use, good battery life, great detection level, really handy and useful shovel.Honestly, after a week of daily use, I can't fault it.The instructions do state the control box isn't waterproof, but it survived light drizzle, I opted to put a plastic bag over the control box when the rain got heavier.Dear Sunpow...I would love to buy a transparent raincover for it, just to help in case caught out by the weather.

Much better built than other cheaper detectors and so far everything appears to function well. Already found pre-decimal coins.

I purchased this as a gift for my daughter who wanted to go beach combing. I'd owned a couple of cheap metal detectors as a kid and was immediately impressed the relative sophistication of this model. I was looking for something a bit better than a base model but not prohibitively expensive so this was perfectly placed, especially as Amazon were offering a 15% discount at checkout. It also arrived next day too.To date, we've used it in anger twice and while we haven't found any Viking treasure yet, every time we've stopped to dig, we did find something metallic. The unit gives off a different tone for different metals and the display gives an indication of depth and composition too. This is really useful when deciding when to stop and when to move on. The sensitivity can also be adjusted, we started with it on maximum but soon realised that reducing it slightly gave us more consistent results.It takes 2 9 volt batteries which are still reporting as full after 2 sessions. You can turn off the backlight on the display to conserve power. The sensor is waterproof as advertised, I've used it along a river bank with no problems.My only niggle is that the coin indicators across the top of the display show American currency which is obviously irrelevant in the UK, unless you've dropped your American change somewhere. That said, the wider category indicators (Iron, Aluminium, Gold, Silver) are enough and if you're familiar with American coins, you can make a reasonable guess at what a similar coin in your respective locale would be.This also comes with a nice little folding shovel which seems well made and works well. The carry bag will take the detector in one piece provided it's adjusted to be as short as possible. I did find that slinging it across your back did become painful after a while due to bits poking me, so I'd recommend splitting into 2 parts if you're using the supplied bag (which has plenty of space for other bits and bobs).To summarise, this met all of my expectations and I'm totally satisfied with my purchase. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting to get into "detectoring".

Very easy to use and lightweight. It is loud and clear .I'll enjoy this for a long while now
