I used Now Foods Chitosan 500 mg for 22 days while traveling as a fiber supplement to avoid constipation which is a problem I had for decades and was successfully treating with a big portion of vegetables, fruit and more than one tablespoon of phylum husk (all of them daily) . This product diid the job by itself. I used only 3 capsules before breakfast and dinner(20 min before). I did not feel hungry in between which I attributed to the chromium effect on appetite. I did not weighed myself before I started using this product but I lost some belly fat. All my pants were loose 3/4 of an inch. It is a great thing this product does not have Dicalcium Phospate which reacts with hypertension medication Verapamil. I used this chitosan with Verapamil, Atorvastatin, Hydroxysine and cylobenzaprine with no side effects.

My dog has high cholesterol from certain medical conditions and his vet recommended trying Chitosan first before resorting to a medication, as cholesterol lowering medications for dogs are not as effective as they are for humans, and the research thus far hasn't established that they work in the same way. It is difficult to evaluate this product because I won't know the true impact until my dog's next round of blood work, which isn't for a few months. But so far, I can say that he seems to be tolerating taking this supplement once a day. I give it about 10-20 minutes before his meal. Please note, however, that if you (or your dog, if you're using these for your dog) are on any type of medication that needs to be taken with food - fat soluble medication - that you cannot take Chitosan before meals, you will need to wait a few hours after eating. Otherwise, you will reduce the efficacy of your medication and cause other problems.When researching on Amazon for different options of Chitosan supplements, I was disheartened to see that there seem to be many unknown companies peddling Chitosan supplements as a miracle weight loss cure. It is not a miracle weight loss cure. If you read the medical research, it does have some positive results in terms of helping to lower cholesterol, and some people *may* also experience some weight loss. But this is not a miracle weight loss pill. Because of all of the products labeled as a weight loss cure, it was very difficult to ascertain which, of any, of the manufacturers can be trusted. I finally settled on purchasing the NOW brand of Chitosan because I have used the brand's vitamins and supplements in the past and see them for sale at reputable retailers like Whole Foods.The capsules themselves are quite large. I would have trouble swallowing them myself, but thankfully my dog has been able to swallow them when wrapped in cream cheese. I wish NOW offered a lower dosage in a smaller size.

A nutritionist told me about this product. As a skeptic, I really am not crazy about things not approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). So, I went to my Doctor to see if there were any contraindications or bad side effects. He wasn't crazy about supplements either, but gave me the OK. I'm still trying to see the results. This is going to be a gradual process. I'm going to order at least two, maybe three months of Chitozen and see if there is a change. So far, nothing bad. Good job for a supplement.

Relatively decent quality. The only problem that I have with us is that about thirtyish percent of the pills in the bottle were cracked open so there’s powder everywhere. Other than that now supplements are pretty high-quality so I do trust that this is working. Plus I get the stomach ache that I usually do from taking it. I do notice in my blood levels that my cholesterol has gone down significantly I was well over 200 and now I’m at 190 in a week since I’ve started taking this. a good supplement but maybe just a bad batch.

This product is used to reduce fat absorption. Personally, I take more for prevention, 1 capsule once a day before meals. The capsule size is normal, without obvious taste. The benefit will be gained more if you add diet and exercise.

Great quality for the price. I have been following the directions to a T since it arrived and I see no marked difference. I'm going to take all of the capsules and order a second bottle. I'll come back and update this review when I finish the second bottle. My hopes are high at this stage.
