Great backlit keyboard for Lenovo T480
DIY upgrade from an unlit keyboard to this one with the backlight on my T480. You can find how-to videos on YouTube. I would call this moderately easy to do, just need the right size screwdriver and some patience with the two ribbon cables inside, which are a bit delicate. After install, works better than the 8-yr-old keyboard it replaced, with the option to do bright, dim, or off on the backlight

No backlight (a featured element)
Nice enough keyboard. But no backlight....I've tried under many OSes, including Arch, Win11&c.So you get what you pay for, I guess: cr.. that doesn't do as it should./* EDIT....to the seller's great credit, they made things right: just happened to receive a faulty unit, and I understand those things happen, especially with high-volume mass produced items like this.I can't really change the overall rating, since the product itself is on "trial," but KBRPARTS are a stand-up company. */

Decent
It feels a bit like a m1 pro 14 macbook keyboard just less tactile and more mushy. the trackpad buttons dont register clicks sometimes (if you press it lightly, it will physically click but wont register an actual click) and the trackpoint is okay but isnt that sensitive compared to OEM. The lights are very dim, at max brightness It looks like an OEM with the lowest brightness settingEDIT: After adding some tape to the bottom of the left click, it now works perfectly fine. It took some time for adjustments though. If you are just looking for a backlit keyboard that has relatively little actuation force and arent using the trackpad buttons and trackpoint and dont care about it being bright, then this is a decent option.

Swaps-in Smoothly to Replace Worn OEM Keyboard
Every 2-3 years,, the keys on my Lenovo T480 show wear. Dome of the writing wears off and on quite a few keys the matte finish has become shiny or even wear down to a slight depression. This keyboard fit perfectly and restored the original appearance and function of my T480 keyboard to its as-new state.Changing the keyboard requires a partial take-apart of the machine. It is not hard to do, but those who have no experience with this should first review the T480 Lenovo Service manual which provides detailed instructions and is freely downloadable from the Lenovo web site. This restoration of the keyboard to an as new condition takes about 20min,for about $30 it is a bargain.

Really bad design.
Really bad design. I went through 2 of these and none worked on my T480.1) Screws in the back don't align with the computer screws??? Straight up bad design as the first keyboard was able to screw only one, and the second keyboard, none.2) Bent from factory. Both didn't want to slide under the keyboard frame.3) Trackpoint buttons defective. Both keyboards had defective buttons and mis-registered clicks from the trackpoint buttons.

Good Material and Easy Installation, but Issues with Functionality and Backlighting
The material of this replacement keyboard feels solid and well-made, and it was straightforward to install into my Lenovo ThinkPad T480. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end for me.After installation, I noticed some strange behavior with the keyboard. While typing quickly, the keys would sometimes stick or freeze, and I would hear a "ding" sound—similar to the sound you get when clicking on an unresponsive window. I ensured that my word processing software was the only application running, checked Task Manager to confirm there were no performance issues, and verified that my CPU and memory had ample resources to handle typing. Despite this, the problem persisted. To troubleshoot, I double checked the cable connections to ensure they were seated properly, and they were securely in place. For comparison, I replaced this keyboard with my old one, which I was retiring due to heavy cosmetic wear from extensive use. The old keyboard never exhibited these issues, so I know the problem isn't with my laptop itself. It's possible I received a faulty unit, so I can't say this is a universal problem. However, another issue was the backlighting. There was noticeable light leakage in some areas, making the illumination uneven and inconsistent.I appreciate the ease of installation and the overall feel of the keyboard, but the functional problems make it hard to recommend. If these issues are resolved in future units, this could be a solid replacement option.
