Compact glucose meter
I have found this a very useful meter. It is very compact, fitting easily in a pocket or handbag. I would buy again

easy to use and convenient
I am not so keen on the finger pricking gadget and so am still using my old one but I like the convenience of the blood glucose monitor.

Great to have in your kit.
I love the product but the shelf live is rubbish

Waste of money
I can't get the lancet pen to work no matter what. Waste of money, terrible design, whatever you do, don't buy it for elderly relatives as they could easily be confused and it's awful for eyesight and dexterity. Thankfully the strips fit my existing Nexus so I'll use them and throw away the lancet pen. Very disappointed.

Small & handy when out & about.
Being diabetic for 17 years, I have used 3 meters, & the kit needed for them, this one being my 3rd. My first was an Accuchek meter that was advised by my diabetic nurse. It was a big kit to carry around with a big, easy ro read, meter, huge test strips that needed a lot of blood & the, absolutely brillant, Softclix lancing device. I then changed to the Freestyle mini when it first came out. That was a much smaller kit to carry around with a smaller meter, tiny test strips that needed a tiny amount of blood & a very painful, for me, lancing device. I used the Freestlye meter but, continued to use the Softclix lancing device for 10+ years. Since I can no longer get the test strips on prescrition & the only available are the GlucoRx Nexus, I had to buy a new meter: free prescriptions for all in Northern Ireland but, limited to what’s on the list.Of the 3 GlucoRx meters that use the Nexus strips, I opted for this one as I have seen it used by hospital staff. The meter is tiny being slightly bigger in diameter than the cap of testing strips. The meter is very simple to use with only the blood sugars reading & no date or time at all. So, a monitor diary would be needed for tracking. Or, you can buy a tiny dongle direct from GlucoRx that goes into the test strip slot & pairs via Bluetooth with an iPhone. With the accompanying app the readings are uploaded onto the iPhone with date & time. You can also add notes eg. before lunch, 2 hours after lunch, insulin doses etc.The test strips are a lot bigger than the tiny Freestyle lite but, actually still need a very small amount of blood: Freestyle lite 0.3ul & Nexus 0.5ul.I had concerns about the lancing device as it only has 6 depth levels compared with the 11 of the Softclix & I have very thin, soft skin on my fingers. But, the lowest setting is actually very similar to the lowest setting of the Softclix. It’s a lot bigger than the Softclix, though, & the lancets are bigger & rounder too.In all, a small & handy kit to carry while out & about. However, using this system compared to the Freestyle my readings are consistently 0.5mmol/l higher. Not a great deal of difference in normal circumstances but, can be a problem if you’re prone to hypos: 8 hypos in 10 days recently when my insulin needed adjusting.
