A good amount of soldering on a visually interesting project
The media could not be loaded. This project was fun. At first I thought I had bitten off more than I wanted. I was thinking that the LEDs would have been already soldered to the PCB "sticks", but they were not. However, it went pretty smoothly and I had it together in an hour or two.I liked that there was plenty to do with the project and I liked that it is visually interesting to look at once it is completed. There are several different modes/patterns that can be accessed by pressing the mode button on the project or using the included IR remote. I don't think you really need the IR remote, but it is nice to have it. It also plays music, but honestly, I didn't buy it for that and I actually prefer the music off. Good thing there is a switch to turn it off.You will need a fine tipped soldering iron to complete the project, and some magnification would be helpful. I suppose you might be able to do without the magnification, but I definitely needed it. There is a mix of through-hole and surface mount but the surface mount components are pretty easy to mount and the instructions offer a few good tips for the IC, but putting on the LEDs will benefit from the same instruction...that is, put solder on one pad first, then heat that pad while merging in the LED. Once the LED is aligned, solder the other pins down to the pads. Just be sure to confirm the orientation. One other thing I liked about this project over other projects I've done lacked, is the pads for the surface mount components are extra large, making them easy to solder. Also note there are 2 different values of resistors and 3 different values of capacitors. Be sure you get the right ones in the right location. I made the mistake of soldering the push button switch on the wrong side of the PCB because I wasn't paying close enough attention to the instructions.I have no real complaints. I did have one bad LED, but I received a few extras, so it was no problem to replace it. And when I did, I forgot to check the alignment and soldered it in backwards, which fried with a pop sound when I plugged it in; so I had to replace it again. But after that, we were in business.Overall, a great little project that was fun to put together.

Look at the video to see how to solder the LED chips
This is for "3D LED RGB Cube Soldering Practice Kit, SMD RGB Light Solder Project Kit"Price at review time: $17.09Useful items to have when building this kit: Silicone soldering mat, "helping hands" soldering tools. The back side of the included instruction sheet should have been used to show the steps for soldering a chip.

Such a Fun Kit!
This is such a fun little kit, the lights put on a fantastic little display once you solder it together and honey her some juice. The kit includes everything to to make the structure and ask the pieces feel like very good quality electronics. As someone who's fairly new to soldering this was an easy project to refine my skills and move onto bigger and better projects. The light functions as a night light for my son now and he loves having it on his shelf, it's got him interested in soldering too and soon I'll be buying another one of these kits for him to learn on. Overall this is a very valuable little kit that not only gives your a great looking little light but also gives you more skills to refine your soldering and become better. Highly recommend!

Great soldering kit!
Super neat soldering kit!! Comes with everything you need to get started. Great for young kids but may require quite a bit of supervision.

You may need to get out your rework gun...
This soldering practice kit is easy enough to assemble. Well, provided that the user has all of the right tools. Soldering on the board is easy enough but each LED bulb require soldering on FOUR TINY MICROSCOPIC CONTACTS. I am not exaggerating at all here. These contacts are smaller than a dot you'd make with a ballpoint pen. It's going to take a lot more than switching to your sharpest iron tip to get these soldered onto the board. But wait, there are a total of 64 diodes to solder to complete this build. These are the types of work best done with solder pastes and a rework gun. It wouldn't be this bad if the contacts were exposed on the sides instead of solely on the back on these diodes. There's obviously a way to pull this job off with soldering irons, but it'd be time consuming to complete with just about the same amount of payoff as one would for a kit that'd only take about an hour to complete at the most.To close, this is a very difficult kit to complete unless the user had a rework gun at their disposal. Yes, there's a way to pull it off with soldering irons but be prepared to spend a lot of time pre-soldering all contact points; 4 on the diodes, 4 on the contacts on the board. Then soldering corresponding contacts together, requiring a minimum of 12 steps to solder a single diode with 63 more being left to go. Then you have the board to contend with, to what end exactly? There's not much to get out of it so I wouldn't call it a challenge. 3 out of 5 stars.

challenging for beginner
I'm just a beginner with soldering and picked this up to practice. The project itself is pretty straightforward, but I did have quite a challenging time getting all of the LEDs soldered to the little sticks. Pretty fun overall and I enjoyed playing around with it once completed.

Fun and Educational
The 3D LED RGB Cube Soldering Practice Kit is a brilliant way to practice soldering and create a dazzling display! The instructions were clear, making it manageable even for a beginner. Once assembled, the 9 lighting modes and music-sync feature were a show-stopper—perfect for a party centerpiece or just to admire on a desk. The kit also helped reinforce STEM concepts, making it educational without feeling like a chore. Great for high school projects or hobbyists. Highly recommend for anyone looking to combine tech with creativity.
