Yes, this is worth buying.
One of the easiest printers to set up !FOLLOW all of the setup instructions and things will go as planned, it works at the end of setup process. The touch screen is great.Connecting to BOTH a wifi device and an phone/tablet are two separate processes, dont think they are one and the same. The Sleep function timer can be adjusted, set mine at 15 minutes, default was 1 minute.Yes, if the printer goes to sleep the user must wake it up. That is not an issue.Yes, when it sleeps and you want to airprint the user must re-establish its connection. Not an issue. The paper tray? Yes some say its a bit flimsy. It’s plastic and Epson has made it as light as possible, so that means dont try abusing the paper tray. When re-inserting the tray THE BLUE RELEASE butoon tab is paramount in getting the tray to go back in correctly. That did take a bit of time to workout since the instructions were not clear on how to reinsert the full try again. Just DONT ram in back in thinking its stuck, its not stuck, it needs the BLUE RELEASE button pressed again. All in all, yes I would buy this same printer again. The negative reviews are a mystery to me, the printer works, like it was designed to work.

Good printer ... Until Epson bricked it with Firmware
Bought this as a replacement for a small office HP that died on us. It is a good machine. Nice features at a reasonable cost. Good color, full duplex, excellent scanning, and reasonable speed. The drivers are fairly crappy in that they constantly want to update and are poorly written and appear to send too much data home. (max out two cores on a modern i7 for a tiny printer driver update.) Overall a good machine and excellent for the price. Epson ink is ridiculously priced so went with high quality refurbished ink cartridges. Worked great at a good price.Fast forward to July 2022. Epson pushes firmware update for "performance, stability, and security updates" that seems harmless. Who doesn't install newer firmware when it is offered? After the firmware update the printer claimed that the ink cartridges were faulty and refused to function. Turns out that the printer is now a brick until I buy genuine Epson ink refills at an exorbitant price. Turns out the company has had a number of class actions against them in the past for this very shady practice. Time to write up some copy for social media and contact a lawyer. It should be illegal to remove capabilities from a product that has been bought and paid for and working for months. Certainly I will never buy another Epson product and neither will anyone at my company.

Good quality , almost perfect.
I would give it a 5 star if it stayed connected. It can be temperamental at times connecting to the wifi. Once it's connected it works great. The app for the phone works flawlessly and it sends it relatively quick but if you have multiple pages to scan sometimes the printer freezes up. Causing a heartache and delay or needing to reset the printer. Overall it's a nice printer and compact in size .

Great Product
Wanted a new printer that was reasonably priced and included a fax. I wanted an Epson as I had the previous Epson 4100 Series. I chose this one because it not only was a printer but copy, scan and fax. It also allowed me use EFAX which a mobile fax app as I don't have a landlines phone. Set was easy took 20 minutes. Would like Epson to include instructions as opposed to looking them up online. But overall I'm happy with it. Hopefully it's not a ink drinker as my previous Epson. But, I would advise if your buying this to purchase extra ink also. It only except Epson brand and will not work with generic although maybe advertised as compatible

Go buy a box of crayons, it will be more reliable
This printer is now an expensive paper weight after only 5 months.I bought this printer in September 2022. It was always a little glitchy with the wireless printing, so I had to connect it to my PC with a USB cable. Not a big deal. The Epson printer cartridge are quite pricey, so I began using remanufactured Epson 822 ink cartridges, also without incident.Until yesterday. I was printing something when I got a "firmware update available" notice. So once the printing was done I download the update. After it was installed, the printer immediately flashed an error message, it was rejecting the remanufactured cartridge that was working fine before the update. So I replaced it with a different remanufactured cartridge, same thing. So I called Epson, and I got the corporate BS that it wasn't their fault, it must be a faulty remanufactured cartridge. A guy in the next office has the same printer, but was smart enough not to download the update. So I tested three different remanufactured cartridges in his WF-3820, and actually also in his assistant's, and they worked fine. The only difference being neither of them downloaded the update. So I called Epson back and was told in no uncertain terms that they don't guarantee third party cartridges, which is fine, that I understand. I also got an admission that there were some "changes" to the system in the current firmware update that "might" render third party cartridges that worked before inoperable. For the record, that is not legal if it's not disclosed, which it wasn't, but they don't care.I am getting rid of this printer, I will make up the cost in the savings from two or three remanufactured cartridges for whatever printer I buy, but rest assured it will NOT be an Epson. If you are thinking of buying a WF-3820, just take the money and flush it down the toilet, it basically the same result that I had with this piece of garbage, and then buy a non-Epson printer.I wish did class actions, this is ripe for one.
