Hurts to get this close
Holy man! Definitely a skill and art to even use if you’re into it. Legitimately gets way closer than cartridge style razors but with so much of a cost and that cost is a lot of brutal pain, possibly suffering, and possibly some blood. Firstly the replaceable razor blades. They start of looking so pleasant and unwrapping them reminded me of old style gums like Tridents. Then you unwrap a double edge razor maybe not so menacing since they’re used for so many arts and crafts type projects. Secondly, The straight razor itself is gorgeous and the metal holder has weight and quality. The metal screw to clasp the razor blades in cannot be hand tightened to keep the lever in place to hold the blades. I had to use a Gerber to tighten the screw to hold blade in place and to keep lever from moving. The wooden handle is smooth and soft. Thirdly the shave. Holy dang! I felt like I came out of a boxing match and the prize fighter I went up against was a mix between Mike Tyson , an octopus, and Edward Scissor Hands. After the shave my face was torn up like Linda Blair’s in the Exorcist but I walked away with a really damn good shave, really freaking damn good. The shave was the closest shave I’ve ever had. I know I probably shaved of a few layers of skin cells above the epidermis layer but it truly left it smoother than a baby’s bottom that was shaved with this razor which is super duper smooth. Do I recommend it? Yes if you’re crazy enough and maybe want to try the purist type life. I will definitely keep using this product and try to perfect my technique just because that’s the way I am. It’s not for every body. Tips: 1. take your time 2. Stretch your skin to keep taut it’ll allow blade to move smoother over skin. 3. Use angles that’ll shave hair off firstly so it’ll be smoother during against the grain passes. 4. Make sure you are either alone or in place where you’re able to yell and curse without bothering anyone because there is a high potential for nicks and cuts. 5. Should be the first but since shaving shouldn’t be such a risk always keep safety in mind. 1 star for ease of use which actually is fairly difficult. 2 star for valuation since the risk for injury is high (imagine anemic patients or patients on blood thinners for heart conditions which may cause to much bleeding). 2 star for sheerness which is in due part to how much technique and experience you really need to use this product or products like it. To be frank using a straight razor like this one is almost almost like driving a right sided Jdm drivers manual car after driving a a left sided driver usdm vehicle for so long (cartridge type razors). It’ll take a whole lot of practice and cajones. This product is definitely unique and is part of a niche in itself. There are the risks but if they can be minimized with practice and experience I know such a skill will get better over time. First rate if anything at all.—-Christian

price point is on point
first off - straight razor shaver for 10 yrs so I have an opinionated view point . was looking for a budget friendly version for camping. Will this give you a decent shave ? Short answer is yes. long answer is yes ,but? It is a bit wider than my (5) other blades - due to it using a double edged safty razor blade. The blades (max) that came with are minor league at best - order or buy your own. Does it build up residue under the blade plates while shaving - yes. Is it really an issue - not for me. It will serve it's purpose until I find a different option -but I wont be looking all that hard for a camping item. Would it be my dailey ? no.

Ive had the other style with half razors and this is far better to work with.
The biggest issue with the half blade style is that when you close the cover down to clamp in the blade..it often results in one end or the other being further down or just outright falling out. Then I have to press the blade against something firm to get the blade even across the bottom. With this style - the full blade fits exactly over the two mount points with no where to go, the cover opens and closes like a car door and the locking mechanism sliding in to place is just gravy on top. When the blade gets dull, open, flip, close and resume shaving.

Great value, Better Shave
This was my first straight razor/ shavette and I have to say it made for the best shave I have ever had. I'm not in practice with it yet but the shave was nice and close without irritating the skin really much at all. I usually have a nick on my face here and there when I'm done shaving but as long as you have a basic idea of how to use it the amount of control you have is unmatched by any other way of shaving. I only bearly nicked myself once if you even want to call it that.

A Big NO
Some people may have received what is pictured however; The one I received is nothing like what is shown. The Torx in the handle as pictured was removed and replaced with a cheap rivet, The scales are blown out from a poor drill job and another cheap rivet, the finnish is pitted and the thumb knob was removed and a rivet poorly pressed in its place. There is also soft putty that was used to cover up cracks in the wood…. Gigantic no from me and feel ripped off from this seller. Honesty is hard to find sometimes and I will avoid Zertone in the future.

Great versatile razor.
There are a lot of shavette razors on the market which either require you to purchase single edge blades or to break double edge blades in half. This one takes a regular double edge blade which is flipped over when the blade becomes dull. What is nice about this feature is that for travel you do not have to take extra blades unless going away for more than a week or so. This is a great minimalist feature. Besides that it is a beautiful razor and the mahogany handle really set it off. All in all this is a nice straight razor.
