Functional Light Machete
I frequently use a machete around the farm and have used a number of styles of them over the years. The type of machete that is comfortable for an individual can vary greatly depending on your own size, strength, types of job you use it for and even how much room you have to swing and work with it.I have used this machete several times now to chop off cedar limbs, small tree limbs, wild rose bushes and a few poison ivy vines growing up my trees. At about .080” thick and 290 grams or 10 ¼ oz I would consider this a lightweight machete good for light work or those who just can’t tolerate swinging a full-size machete. I found I frequently had to use multiple swings to cut off some limbs.I personally prefer a little more heft and length, so for those who need a heavier duty machete this one is probably not for you. If you have the stamina to swing it, I would look at something at least 16 oz or more and at least 18” long and a thicker blade. My favorite machete is about 22” long and weights in at about 24 oz. The added weight will give you a lot more chopping power to snip off a limb with a single swipe instead of having to hit it 2 or 3 times with a light machete. The longer the machete, the further away it keeps your hand and arm from sharp briars and thorns and it can save a lot of bending over to reach something down low.I like:The machete came sharp and has stayed sharp so farFull tangStainless steelGrip is comfortable and secureWeight is reasonableThe saw cuts wellThe sheath seems well made but I notice that it is very difficult to slide the blade in without the saw tooth protector on.Concern:The saw is sharp which is good but I wish it had a better protector you could slide onto it to protect yourself from those sharp teeth when you don’t need them. You have to be very careful sliding on the thin little saw blade protector that came with this, it would be very easy to slip and get cut just trying to put it on. I am not really sure this protector is even meant to be reused. Please be careful.

Sharp & comfortable to use!
I had a ton of limbs on my trees to cut down and this machete\saw did the trick! It was easy to use and was very sharp. It's pretty lightweight and made of good quality materials. The grip was comfortable. Happy with my purchase.

Machete – smooth and serrated edges, solid blade, non-slip grip
My comments reflect that this serrated machete is intended for homeowner yard use. I will not be blazing trails in forests. The tool is a nice addition to my tool cart. I did not realize how much it would complement my previous machete, which has only a smooth-blade. This tool has a smooth side and a serrated side.I used the serrated edge to chop/saw some small branches. It was okay, but left a rough edge. In the yard, I prefer loppers, to get a smoother, less damaging cut.At some point in the distant future, I will have to learn how to sharpen a serrated blade. A bit of plastic protected the blade in the sheath during shipping. It is so narrow, I will not be able to re-use it. The serrations catch when I pull the tool from the sheath. Sometimes they catch a lot, sometimes not much at all. Doesn’t matter which way I insert the tool, the teeth catch on the sheath just a bit.The cut-resistant gloves (level 5) are a nice inclusion. They may stop cuts. They did not stop all thorns and stickers in the vegetation I attacked today. For my lightweight home yard use, the blade feels solid. The polypropylene handle did not slip in my hands.Rating: goodMy scale: 5 star = excellent (or has a special feature), 4 star = good/ very good (does what it should), 3 star = average (or has a minor flaw), 2 star = below average (multiple flaws or does not perform its function well), 1 star = avoid (does not fulfill its mission). I rarely use the term ‘perfect’ and I rarely assign 5 stars.

Thin Blade - Only Capable of Light Duty, If That
This machete looks pretty cool in the pictures. But if you want to use it for cutting anything more substantial than a flower stem, look elsewhere. The blade is only .070" thick. It actually bends. The saw teeth chew the sheath up when taking the machete in or out. Not impressed.

Meidocre machete
This machete would do most of the work you have on your yard. However, the saw side seems more robust than the blade side. The product quality is not exactly shown in the pictures. Mediocre craftsmanship at best. It's not very sharp, either. The saw has metal chips here and there (see the image). The blade side has uneven sections (see the picture). Black paint on the surface is not clean and has many imperfections that may cause corrosion in the long run.
