Great Overall, But Big Sound Difference Between Modes
I’ve been using the Soundcore Liberty 5 earbuds for a few weeks now and overall, they’re a solid pair of earbuds. The design is sleek, the fit is comfortable, and the battery life is impressive. Connectivity is fast and stable, and I really like the companion app with its customizable EQ settings. However, there’s one major downside I’ve noticed: the sound quality changes a lot depending on the mode you’re using. When I have noise cancelling turned on, the music sounds rich, clear, and really impressive quality. But when I switch to normal mode (with ANC off), the sound becomes flat, hollow, and almost tinny. It’s a noticeable drop in quality that makes me avoid using them without noise cancelling. It’s not a total dealbreaker for me, since I mostly use ANC anyway, but it’s definitely something to be aware of. For the price, I expected more consistency across modes.Still, if you plan on using ANC most of the time, these are a great choice.

Impressive Sound Quality & Noise Cancellation & All At A Great Price
These are well made ear buds from Soundcore. I got the blue version and think they look great. The charging case plastic has a matte blue, almost metallic paint effect, and the actual earbuds are glossy blue plastic. The case is opened via a sliding action, rather than a hinge opening, and the earbuds are secured within with a reassuring magnetic "grip".Pairing : This was unbelievably easy. As soon as I opened the case, my phone (Google Pixel 8 Pro), picked up the ear buds and asked if I wanted to connect. No searching for devices or anything like that. This may be down to my phone and that I already had the Soundcore app, but I was still impressed.Fit & Use : I've found them very comfortable in the ear and there are a number of differing sized silicone ear pads provided so you should be able to get a secure fit. The pinch-stalk to activate takes a little getting used to but I like that there is a little audible click followed by a tone sequence, confirming activation. However I tend to still use my phone for skipping and pausing etc.Sound Quality : I was very impressed with the sound quality. Listening to a FLAC of Chvrches Death Stranding, bass was punchy and vocals clear. Perhaps some finer details are lost around the mids if I'm being picky, but I still think they sound great!Noise Cancellation : This was great too. In my test in my bathroom, the noise cancelation eliminated the hum of my bathroom extractor fan so these should be great on a plane or similar environment.App : Once I'd added the earbuds to the app, a firmware update was required for the earbuds. This was very simple to do and clear instructions provided. It took just over a minute to update for me. The app is great and allows for numerous EQ settings, differing levels of noise cancellation as well as a slightly tailored EQ test that gives you your own EQ settings. It's definitely worth having a play with the app to get the sound you prefer.Overall, for £99 (at the time of writing), these represent excellent value for money in my opinion, and compete really well with my other earbuds that are almost twice the price.

The music sounds better with You
Abyss Blue for a earbud name? We are heading into Farrow and Ball country….but they do look cool. As they should for nearly £100.Very comfortable: I, in fact, forgot I had them in during a long train ride, which is a miracle considering I usually last about 20 minutes before ripping earbuds out. These stay put on public transport and don’t poke or annoy me. Unlike my granddaughter.Noise cancellation is excellent. They especially kill human voices, ideal if you are next to an howling baby or someone speaking loudly on their mobile.Dolby Audio….For films, the sound is rich and immersive. Music (main use for me) I heard instruments for the first time in a song I’ve played repeatedly. Bass is deep.I can get through 4 to 5 days on one charge. A 10-minute charge gives me 5 hours, which is superb. These are comfy, clever, and stylish (especially in Abyss Blue). I use them daily. Highly recommend even at the price.

Premium Sound and Design, but Overcomplicated for Everyday Use
I’ve been using the Anker Liberty 5 earbuds for a few weeks now, and there’s no denying the sound quality is outstanding—definitely one of the best I’ve experienced in this price range. The noise cancellation is highly effective, really isolating you from external distractions, and the overall audio performance is crisp and immersive. The design is another strong point. The earbuds are sleek, glossy, and come in a beautiful pink shade that’s both eye-catching and elegant. They’re comfortable to wear, and the case is compact and attractive. It also charges fairly quickly via the included USB-C cable. The range of earbud tip sizes—going up to XXL—is a thoughtful addition, ensuring a better fit for different ear shapes. The Soundcore app offers a wide range of features, including device tests, hearing assessments, and even ear tip fit testing, which can be helpful for those who like to fine-tune their experience. However, for users like me who prefer simplicity, this can feel a bit overwhelming. I tried the hearing tests once and didn’t feel the need to repeat them—they felt more like a chore than a benefit. I’d have preferred more straightforward, practical functions such as intuitive tap controls during calls.A few other points let the product down slightly. There’s no clear battery percentage indicator on the case—only a light, which isn’t very informative when you're on the go. Also, the Bluetooth range could be better. The connection tends to drop even just a few metres away, such as when going upstairs or across rooms. All in all, these earbuds are visually stunning and deliver exceptional sound, but they’re a bit too app-reliant and lack some practical, everyday user features I expected at this price point. A solid product, but with room for improvement in usability.
