A humble kettle with few features but even fewer headaches.
I bought this kettle to heat water between the amounts of 100ml and 300ml. I also have a large 1.7L kettle that uses 1200W. This one uses about 950W. Despite being slightly weaker, it actually boils 100ml a bit faster than the larger kettle. Not only that, it boils this small amount to a higher temperature of about 211 degrees. The larger kettle can only get it up to 200 degrees. Although I can explain exactly why this is so, due to my engineering background, I don't think that's necessary for this review. Just take my words for it: the smaller kettle can achieve higher water temperatures for small volumes of water. The larger the volume, the more equal they become.Anyway, I've used this kettle for at least a couple months now, and so far it's very reliable. There's an opening within the steel inner wall that directs steam into the inner space between the steel and plastic housing. This steam triggers the mechanism in the base of the kettle, to cut off power, to prevent accidental damage caused by users leaving their kettle unattended. I personally have no use for this function, as I intend to use this kettle right next to me at all times. Thus, I used some aluminum foil and tape to seal up that hole. I don't want water vapor causing any of the inner components to rust. It works. The lid sits securely (doesn't fall out when pouring), but is not hard to remove. If I have to nitpick, I would say that the kettle attaches to the base element a little bit too snugly. When trying to remove the kettle from the base, I have to give it a little shake for the base to fall away. Of course I could use two hands, but I have the base sitting on the floor, so I don't want to bend over too much to use both hands. This is really minor.I use this to brew tea and coffee. I have a separate thermometer that I use in combination with this kettle. I find this modular approach much more reliable than those fancy kettles with internal thermometers. They use complex circuitry that throttle the power output as the temperature approach your desired/programmed temperature. This improves efficiency and helps to have the water be precisely at your desired temperature. However, it also significantly slows down the heating process, and for me it's not necessary, as I use my own method that works just as well. The higher the complexity of a unit, the less reliable it becomes, regardless of whether you paid $30 for it, or $100. A lot of those fancier kettles with many features are very expensive, and will likely fail before this humble kettle will. For an item of this price, I would consider this kettle a very high value item. It works great and has lasted thus far. I personally always update my Amazon reviews, so until something comes up this kettle gets 5 stars.

Light and simple.
Wanted something light, compact, and simple to boil water for tea at work. I don't use that much water at a time, so 0.5L was ideal for me.The design is nice and simple, no curves or slants, just a simple 0.5L cup and a handle which I imagine is great for packing and traveling. The inside is easy to clean, all stainless steal. It's worth mentioning that the lid is removeable. It might be a little less convenient if you're just keeping it in one place and constantly using it like I am, but it's a good way to save space when you're packing and gives you more freedom when filling or emptying it out. Everythings well insulated enough that I don't feel uncomfortable taking the lid off after boiling water. My only small issue with the design is when you finish boiling water and try to remove the kettle from the heating element, it kind of sticks on and might take a few tries to get the kettle off. I wish it was a bit looser so I didn't have to detach it as often, but it's not a big issue, just a minor inconvenience. It's a nice light and simple kettle, and is a good choice for traveling. Whether it's worth $30 or not is up to you.

BEST LITTLE TRAVEL KETTLE EVER
I love it! For years I’ve been looking for a good portable kettle with a nontoxic stainless steel interior and now I’ve finally found it and I absolutely LOVE it! Plus, it works super fast. It’s boiling hot in about 3 minutes! I got it for trips since it’s small and easily portable but now I just use it every day at home instead of my big kettle… because I love it!Just a quick WARNING: Make sure the top cover is snug in place and DO NOT go over the maximum water line which is clearly marked inside… if you do add extra water, then it will spill over when the water starts to boil.Just one more thing… the automatic shut off works great and… did I mention that I love LOVE love it?!?

Boiling Hot and Willing to Travel!
I received this kettle a few days ago and it arrived intact, clean, and with a travel bag which fit the kettle and cord perfectly. I wanted a kettle that was portable, stainless steel, and quiet. Per the reviews and description, I decided to give this one a try.The directions were written in English and simple to understand, but the lettering inside the kettle’s cup contains language that is not in English. It also lists the number “360” and I’m sure that it relates to the unit of measure. Whatever that may be.The directions state that the “water level should be kept within the range of the maximum and minimum water levels set by the scale”, but I was curious to know if I could boil water at the max line. I filled the kettle and clicked the on/off switch. It immediately began heating the water and after 1 minute and 30 seconds the water began boiling and I mean BOILING. In fact, the water boiled over and out of the spout. Lesson learned: don’t fill the kettle to the max line. For the next test, I filled the kettle between the max and min line as directed. Success! No boil over and hot water within 2 minutes. The switch and light clicked off when the water was heated. I was able to boil 2 cups of water.I am giving the kettle 4 stars because I have only had the kettle a few days and it will be more than a few months before I can confidently say it’s durable and reliable. So far, so good!

Great travel kettle! Small but mighty!
I recently did a cross country trip by train in a sleeper car. My companion and I can't start our day without our tea and coffee and this was the perfect answer. We filled it with bottled water and plugged it in: it boiled fast and we were able to fill (and refill) our cups. We also brought sugar packages and UHT milk so mornings started our right without having to leave the "room". No wandering to the bar car in our jammies...
