D'Addario Accessories String Height Gauge

It boggles my mind how some companies try to charge for these simple devices and how fanatic some users can be over guitar tools! The D'Addario seemed to me to the be the best price performance product for sale here. The markings are etched into the metal and painted black against the silvery metal so it is easy to read. This should last me a life time.

It is not made with paper-thin metal and is sturdy. The satin surface makes it much easier to read. Be careful when using it since the edges are a little sharp.

Not sure how you would check neck relief, as it is alleged you can do, but overall this tool appears precise based on comparison to high-quality machinists rulers I have. Other than for checking action, specifically string height at 12th fret, which this is really convenient for, a good small precision ruler with demarcations in 64ths and 32nds and millimeters and a set of feeler gauges will get you there, too, if you already have those. If not, this tool with feeler gauges should work fine.

I don’t know what I’d do without this tool. I bought it to set the pickup heights on my guitars, but I keep finding new uses for it.

Really handy tool for setting up guitar action. I like all the options for measurement (metrics and SI) also like the table on the back side that provides recommended action measurements for different instruments. Cool stuff.
