Neat challenge. Not for beginners.
I received the cutting in SERIOUS dormancy. I never tried growing plumeria, so I figured what the heck. It came on a typical Chicago April day of 31°F, and I planted it indoors in a 3-gallon pot next to a north-facing window with artificial lights after spreading growth hormone gel completely covering the cut point. It's a little confusing which end is up.The photos are at the 4 week point with probably 1.2-1.5 full-sun equivalent 24/7, Clonex gel at the start, and a humidity dome. This is a hard plant to grow. Things really started to happen when the temp under the dome ($1 at Dollar Tree) was over 85°F. I misted with deionized water several times a day. I'm not sure if it was necessary, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.Planted in coco coir (shredded coconut husks) with General Hydroponic nutrients, including Rapid Start (B1) and Diamond Nectar (water-soluble humus). Lights are 2 x 200W LED (20W drawn) at 9 inches.Plant resisted light tugging at 3 weeks indicating root growth. I wouldn't tug too hard, though.Looking forward to flowers! If you don't live in a tropical climate, this will be a tough one to grow. It needs heat and light, and it doesn't like it below 65°F, even at night. The early growth occurs at the top and is agonizingly slow. It makes me think that without the additives or tropical sun, it might stay dormant indefinitely. I'll add a few more pics at 6 months or so.Update 7/15/20, 3 months in - Plant has 3 main leaves and a bunch of starters. I managed to knock off a leaf by being clumsy. Sad. It seems to like "blurple LED" lights more than incandescent. That's cool. It's a lot cheaper. Plumeria was moved into my grow room: 77°F day, 67° night (currently 12/12, but soon I go back to 18/6) with 50 % humidity, fans to keep about a 10-15 mph swirling wind. I stopped using root accelerator. My tree looks great! I'm impressed by the growth at lower temperature. Third picture from the left.10/18/2020Sadly, my plumeria did not survive an infestation in my grow room. It had been doing great. Because of the thick leaves, the critters were able to hide from the sprays. A tree that I brought in had aphids, spider mites and scale. What a disaster; a third of my plants didnt survive the chemotherapy I gave them all.

Excited to grow my first plumeria - UPDATED
October 5th 2019 updateI am pleased to add an update to the original review. Approximately one week after planting the cutting on July 22nd this year I placed the plant outside on the balcony facing East to get full sun. I was concerned about the Midwest summer not being warm enough for it however my concerns were unfounded. The plant started to thrive and as you can see from the pictures it grew several sets of healthy leaves. As I do not possess a green thumb like my mom does, I was concerned that I was going to kill the plant. However I made every effort not to over water it by setting one day a week for watering and so far that's been working great. As the temperatures dipped below 70F recently, I choose to bring the plant indoors and place it in a window facing East so it continues to get full sun most of the day.The plant is in a 9" diameter pot and as you can see the main leaves have a greater span than that. They span approximately 13". This all happened in less than 3 months after being planted. As my journey with this plant continues I will return and make regular updates. In the future I would like to order more plumeria from Discount Hawaiian Gifts as their Plumeria cutting seems to be top quality and I'm very happy with the way it is growing.July 22,2019I just received the Plumeria cutting today and I have already planted it. I'm really excited as this is my first Plumeria and I'm hoping I'm doing a good job of growing it. The cutting is looking healthy and it feels firm to the touch. I planted it using growth hormone and a 2/1 mix of organic perlite and organic potting soil. It sits in a window with eastern exposure so it will have plenty of sun.So far the experience with the seller (Discount Hawaiian Gifts ) has been great as I ordered the the cutting on 7/15 and received it on 7/22 and the plant cutting is vigorous and healthy. I will return and leave more feedback as the plant develops.

Not red.
I absolutely love my plumeria, but sadly she did not have red flowers like she was supposed to have. Took almost 3 years to get flowers which is not uncommon for the type of plumeria sent to me. This company does have excellent cuttings but keep in mind you might not get the color you ordered.

Perfect plant
My daughter in law loves this plant it reminds her of home. It is very hardy & has servived the Nevada Heat.Someone had asked a suggestion about a pot for this....Being they live Nevada, when they received the cutting they kept it in water as it was the winter, & kept plastic over top. I think they were waiting for the roots to grow & the weather to get warmer to plant it.They planted it in a light colored pot so not to draw the Nevada heat to it. That was the question someone had asked. It didn’t flowe last year, but I’m hoping to see it does this year. They kept it in the garage over winter.( as it doesn’t get so cold out west) It’s starting to do well with leaves growing nicely.I’m watching to see what happens as I have been growing them in the northeast My daughter in law lives in the west where it is so hot. They move it around in a pot outside so not to give it too much of that scorching sun. . I take a cutting from the mother plant & bring it in in the fall. I root it in small pot inside & not water too much as it could rot. The internet has wonderful videos to watch. It’s challenging & fun to grow. Just be careful not to overwater it.

Somewhat disappointed
Received a healthy cutting but it was extremely curved that it will be difficult to train it to grow straight. It has not rooted yet.
