How much horsepower is it reasonable to expect a 5 year old to generate if he gives an honest effort?

A five year old can only put out about 50 Watts maximum for a few minutes.   Taking into account that one horsepower is equivalent to 735 Watts,  then this would be approximately  1/15th  horsepower.    The educational value of this type of generator is  the main driver behind  using it. What does this come with other than the bike? Can you plug anything into this?

Good morning,  when you order this item  it comes with an industrial strength exercise bike that will work for children or adults along with a DC generator.      Here are your options on what you can connect to it in the classroom for STEM activities.   OPTION 1: Connect to an air compressor to launch a STEM pop bottle rocket  OPTION 2:  You can store the energy from the bike generator  into a portable power station such as AC200 ($1,500)   The AC200 is special because it can handle over 100 Volts without being damaged.    OPTION 3: Connect the bike generator to a portable power station such as the Jackery  150  ($150)  This requires over Voltage protection module connected between the bike generator and the Jackery   OPTION 4: Connect the  bike generator to a 12V blender so the students in the classroom can  make fruit smoothies.  OPTION 5: Connect to a leaf blower that sits on the floor and points up in the air.  When the students start to pedal  a beach ball floats up in the air above the leaf blower  which gives the students a chance to learn about Bernoulli's principle physics / science STEM area of study. OPTION 6: Connect to an Easy Bake Ultimate Oven like the one made by hasbro to allow the students to bake their own cookies in the classroom.  It would take about 10 students about 5 minutes each  to get the oven hot enough to bake the cookies.  OPTION 7: Connect to a 12V Water pump and have the students measure how much energy it takes to pump water from one bucket to another.

This system uses an off the shelf  FITNEX X5 KIDS BIKE, the manufacture  has  5 year frame, 6 months on pedals and saddle, 1 year on all other parts, 90 days labor.  With that said,  I can tell you this is a very well designed exercise bike that fits both children and adults -   I've been working with them for over 5 years and they are fantastic.   The generator has a 5 year warranty - or 1,000 hours of usage, which over comes first ,  and the rubber drive roller gets worn out if  the bike is being used by adults (Adults put out much more power than children and that puts stress on the rubber roller.)  The rubber roller will last 10 years with kids using the generator system,  and 6 months with adult athletes using the system.  We do not warrantee the roller.
