Several options
I've been using the same Sleep Right dental guard for years. Really effective and really durable, and it still functions, but it's so stained that I just had to replace it. Not knowing that there are several different models to choose from, I ordered the cheapest one, which turned out to be the select-comfort. Definitely different from the one I have been using, which I believe to be the dura-comfort. The select-comfort has a considerably smaller bite surface, which at first made me think it wouldn't stay in place all night. After a few weeks of use, it hasn't fallen out or shifted in the night, so far so good. Maybe it's just that I am used to having more surface area to bite down on, but I may end up putting the select-comfort on my travel kit and ordering a different model for daily use. Whatever the model though, this is a quality product, and infinitely more comfortable than the full mouth boil-to-fit mouth guards.

The best option out there.
This is the only dental guard i like/repeatedly use. last year i actually fractured a molar which had to be extracted because of nighttime clenching/grinding. I've tried various dental guards/brands since and this has been the best for me.I've tried the full mouth microwave/water boiling ones which are so large you just gag, to the dentek ones which are hard plastic and cut into your gums. There is another one like this one from the same manufact but the pads rotate. while good in concept, in practice its horrible. because without anything securing them to a position they would rotate. obviously when they are between your teeth they cant rotate, so guess what does? the strap that connects them travels up to the top of your mouth very uncomfortably. This one however is fully adjustable for front to back(great for diff mouth sizes or when you are missing a tooth) and it doesn't rotate, so the pads and the strap that connects them stay in the same place as when you put it in your mouth. I find it very very comfortable, it doesn't cut into your gums, the whole thing is coated in like a soft silicone that helps so much with comfort.i highly recommend this brand, and in particular this option if you have issues with clenching or grinding!

Doesn't work well for me anymore...
I really like this dental guard. I have tmj, and this was my go to bite guard for many years. I used this after my $700 TMJ guard broke and I didnt feel like going back to get another made. Well, fast forward about 10 years, and I bought one of these again when I was having some issues with grinding... well, I also wear a retainer on my top teeth (invisalign) and while I wasn't wearing the retainer as I needed a new one (had a hole, they don't last forever), I found that the sleep right actually threw out my jaw and my bite too much to make it worth wearing again. I went back to the dentist and had him make me a new retainer. So, my review after wearing it for a few days is this... they work great for grinding, but if your tmj is bad, wear a real retainer, etc... go to your dentist or tmj specialist. your jaw and teeth will thank you. Otherwise, the only complaint I have is that I think the pads are just a teeny bit too thick. Yes, I know it is to prevent grinding, snoring by opening the jaw, etc., but it should have a thinner piece as well. I feel like I am biting down too hard as I need my mouth closed at night to sleep and there is just too much bulk. It seemed to just give me a headache. Also, because I couldn't close, I seemed to suck my mouth closed or something? I would wake-up and have the indents of the appliance vacuumed into my cheeks and even gums to the point where it hurt. it was bizarre. Could just be me. I guess it just doesn't work for me any more.

I wish I had know before I ordered.......
***Amazon refers to the model I am writing this review about as the "Select Comfort Dental Guard"******Review Update*** I have been sleeping using this item for over 1 week now, and have decided that it is (a little bit) better than I had originally thought. I've upgraded my rating from a "1" to a "3" because of this. I'm still convinced that this model provides a MINIMUM amount of protection, but it is also less intrusive than the other SleepRight models that I've used. If you are only need a little bit of protection, and comfort is a priority, this might work for you. Personally, I'd still recommend getting one of the other SleepRight models though (see below)...............................................................................................................................................................................................I have been using (several different versions of) SleepRight Dental Guard products nightly for a number of years now. The model/style that I normally buy was not available on Amazon, and this model was cheaper (currently priced at $18.97), so I tried it. I'm wondering now if this is perhaps intended for children? It seems way too small (for my mouth anyhow). I have only used it for 1 night so far, and I did make it through the night, but I'm positive that it doesn't provide the same bite-protection as the other SleepRight models that I've used. The "swivel" action on the bite pads is basically non-existent, so it doesn't fit as well.....the pads have to bend/flex in order to shape to your teeth. It also feels as though it wants to slide out (sideways), instead of providing the needed bite protection. If you have a smaller mouth, perhaps this would work OK for you (we are all unique after all). For myself, it was a complete waste of $18.97! I'll be looking for a retailer who sells the model(s) that I'm used to using. From my own personal experience, the SleepRight products that I would recommend are:1.) Amazon calls it....."Dura Comfort Dental Night Guard" (dark blue on the box, and says "4X Stronger") is the most secure, and the longest lasting. I tend to feel it's presence more in my mouth though (cheek and gums). Also, the bite guard tends to be a bit harder than I would like.2.) Amazon calls it...."Standard Select Low Profile Night Guard" (dark blue on the box, and says "2X Stronger") is the model I find to be most comfortable, but it's not quite as secure, and doesn't provide quite as much protection as the "Dura Comfort".Sleep Tight.
