Love this house
We only had our purple Martin redbarn house up 5 minutes and we had 20 birds all over it. I can't get over it they love it. They have landed on it within about 15 minutes and they took it over. We're so excited. We live on a lake in Miami perfect place for them. Don't hesitate buy it and buy the pole

Easy to put together and becomes sturdy...once the screws are in.
Securing the roof is the tricky part. I used some black electrical tape to keep the center divider in place, before putting on the roof. The divider, needs to sit between 4 small pieces of plastic, on the side walls (two on top and two below). Once the roof is on...you cannot get at the divider. My husband helped me secure the roof. Make sure that the 4 hooks, at the bottom corners of the roof...have not come out of their slots...before you put in the roof screws. We were so busy, lining everything up...we failed to notice that the hooks came out.We have lots of sparrows (the sparrow gang) that live in our existing 12 room S & K Purple Martin House. They will be thrilled to have a new house. The inside compartments have been damaged by the sparrows overstuffing their compartments. It would be nice if the interior walls were a hard plastic, with a track on the outside walls to help keep everything in place and make it last longer. But, I know that also adds to the price.Ginger, Saukville, WI

Make sure you have their pole
I have an existing round pole, this came in and has a triangle shaped pole. i assume they do this, so you will have to buy their $129 pole. Nothing is wrong with the one I already have, I will be sending back.

Great Martin House
This is our second Martin house. We put one up in Virginia and now we have one in Florida. Our house was full in Virginia and the birds seem to really enjoy it too.

Very sturdy and easy to assemble Martin house.
I bought this Martin house as a replacement for one that was already on the property when I bought it. The only reason I replaced it is it was the plastic was so old the rails and pins holding it together were cracking and falling apart. This house went through many very windy storms and I didn’t have any issues with it until the plastic rotted away. I would bet the one I took down was close to 10yrs old judging by the look of the plastic. The assembly of the new one was very easy. The instructions were easy to read but the photos were not very clear due to the black and white newspaper used in printing it. Read the instructions first and Most people would still be able to look at the parts, and maybe even use the box as a visual to put it together. It is very easy. It is made of corrugated plastic for the floors and flexible plastic for the sides and roof. The perches are made of flexible plastic and are tapered to fit into holes for a tight fit. It starts out a little flimsy but Once everything is together it is very solid and will not come apart if done correctly. The most important part of assembly is making sure the fasteners are lined up with the holes. The holes for the sides and roof may need adjustment until they line up. The house once together has the ability to be cleaned out by opening the panel with the entry holes. Press two tabs then pull open. There are 4 separate panels to open. They do sell accessories for this martin house you can get directly from S&K You will need to buy a pole separately. It uses a triangular shaped telescopic pole but they have adapters for a round pole if needed. I have the triangular pole and it works great.

Returning one out of two purchased
So it’s a pretty neat idea. Comes flat packed and the pieces pop together. The problem is if one of those pieces is even a little bent or damaged, like the roof pictured in this review, then the whole thing is a little off! Unfortunately I didn’t realize this until it was put together! There was no way to see the structural issues such minor damage would cause until it was put together. There is now a large gap on the roof on one side, at this point not sure it it will just look weird or if it will impact the birds desire to use the house?I bought two based on reviews, and will be returning the other one which I haven’t put together yet. The whole thing is cute but not sturdy at all.Assembly is relatively easy, I will say they have pretty good instructions. The problem area for assembly is the roof section because you will be trying to pop snaps in while holding a structure together so all the guides (which you now can’t actually see because the roof is on) are lined up. Then make sure as you manipulate the roof to line up the holes for the snaps that you don’t loose a roof guide, I did and at 5/6 snaps in place it was not easy to get everything back in place!Like I said good idea, not brain surgery to put together but it does require a fair amount of blind manipulation of the structure at the end.Overall, I wouldn’t recommend and as I mentioned before I bought two and will be returning the one I haven’t put together yet.

Big and beautiful, but not sturdy enough
Pretty. Not very sturdy. Don’t use where there are a lot of strong winds.
