I actually found out about this wonderful product some months ago. It was recommended by the doctor who was treating my elderly mother-in-law, when she temporarily went through a stage where she began to refuse to eat her meals. In recent times, my frail 94 year old father has lost some of his appetite. He willingly eats and enjoys his pre-cooked delivered meals in the evening, but was starting to skip eating anything at lunch-time. Fortunately, I've convinced him to at least drink a bottle of Fortisip midday, preferably with a slice of whole meal toast (because Fortisip contains no fibre). Dad has been taking Fortisip daily now for three weeks and, from my observations, he has definitely perked up - mentally and physically.Fortisip is produced by Nutricia, and it's worth taking a quick look at their website, where you will find a comprehensive listing of all the macro-nutrients, vitamins and minerals contained in this product, and additional info relating to food allergies etc. Essentially, this a halal, kosher, vegetarian food that comes in the form of a ready-made milkshake. It's meant for consumption by people who cannot consume enough solid food to maintain a balanced diet; when appetite is poor and nutritional requirements are not being met through ordinary food. As my dad often tells me, this is such a convenient way to take in nutrients and vitamins because it's simply a case of taking it out of the fridge and drinking it. It comes in 200ml plastic recyclable bottles, and it's presently available in five flavours: Caramel, Chocolate, Raspberry, Vanilla, and Vanilla Lemon. You can buy it in small cartons, but it's more economical to purchase a pack of 24. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this product to other discerning Amazon customers. A product used for an 85-year-old senior after UTI to strengthen the body weakened by antibiotics. My father drinks it willingly and I hope it will fulfill its role.
