Great train!
The little blocks/cargo are what make this toy. I was worried that my son could put the blue rectangular block into his mouth, but its big enough that its not a concern. If you're on the fence, buy this. He loves to mix the colors around in the cars, try to build with them, put the train together and take it apart again. Plenty of fun for a 2.5 year old.

Twins love it
My twins are almost 2.5 and love this toy. They love trains and I love this incorporates colors and shapes and learning while still allowing them to have a train to play with. Can never go wrong with learning resource toys!

Nephew loves it
Nephew is 2 years old. He starting to count. He is learning visually, seeing the numbers, and physically counting items. This toy provides the written number on each cart, and has physical quantity inside the cart for him to count. The toy works better on flat surfaces, not on carpet or rugs. It does not move very well. The train carts will detach and not move continuously in a line like a train.

My boy loved it!
I love the toy because of the educational purpose it has. I love the colors on the wagons because they are jazzy. It will be a fun way for my boy to learn some numbers and some colors while having fun. And you can even build with the blocks and learn shapes. Money well spent with this toy. I also love that the pieces are big because my kid still put things on his mouth so I will not worry about that.

All aboard the counting train
My son who is almost 2, received this train for Christmas. He loves trains and he has been learning to count this month (he's up to three). He also loves identifying colors and building with blocks, so this really was the perfect gift for him. He loves this train. It is made of good quality sturdy plastic. It is easy to detech the cars, but they don't fall apart on their own. The blocks for each number are different shapes, so we can work on shape recognition as well. The colors are nice and vibrant. The wheels roll smoothly and easily, my son has no issue making the train roll around the room. There are a couple of small drawbacks. The numbers on the cars are stickers applied to the train and they are only on one side of the train cars. They really should be on both sides, and I am pretty sure they will get peeled off by little fingers long before we are done with this toy, it also makes the train less washable as the stickers are not going to survive being emersed in water (Which is a shame because washability is one of the key advantages of plastic over wood in children's toys and we all know how many germs children spread amongst each other). I also wish that there were 5 train cars and an engine instead of the driver in the engine being number 1, but that isn't really a big deal. Overall it's a nice toy, my son likes it, it is a good reinforcement for educational concepts that a 2 year old is learning. I would recommend it for any young train lover.

Unexpected Hit
We have a vehicle loving 2.5 year old - while on vacation he told us he wanted to go home because he missed his toys. We found a local toy store and this train was out for display/play… but they didn’t have it to purchase. One meltdown (and a long car ride back to the hotel) later, he was finally calm and I was able to suggest we look for it online. We found it here on Amazon and had it sent to our families house so they could bring it with them when they picked us up at the airport. Fast forward, our son was elated when he saw his train waiting for him in the car - he held it and “talked” to the conductor the whole drive home and as soon as we got home he ripped the packing open himself! It’s been 3 days, it has been played with for hours each day, and is the first thing he asks for when he wakes up (morning, or nap) and is always upset when he has to stop playing with it (bedtime/nap time).Pros:Pretty sturdyCars adjoin easilyCons:Pieces that go inside the cars feel flimsy (hollow plastic)Does do well on higher pile carpet (does fine on hardwood/are rugs that are thinner)Overall, I didn’t love the price tag ($30 feels like too much especially after feeling it… $20 seems more on target) but I’d still pay it again after seeing my son’s reaction.
