Awesome
These exactly match my 40 year old MarbleWorks set. Both sets have identical dimensions and interoperate perfectly. These are more expensive than other brands but also much better quality.

Sturdy Marble Run Set
I was so happy to be able to gift this Discovery Toys Marbleworks Set to my 5-yr-old grandson! My own son had the original Discovery Toys Marbleworks Set many years ago, and I remembered we got years of play out of it. This set is a sturdy set for little hands to play with as they create their own marble run! It is a quality set, and yes, it does cost a bit more than some of the other marble run kits out there, but it will last a long time! My grandson literally couldn’t stop playing with it! Tip: purchase an extra pack of marbles!

Spend the extra $$$ for this Marble Run
I wish this was the first marble run we purchased! It will definitely be the last as I expect it to provide endless fun for years to come. After purchasing a Marbulous set and having a lot of disappointment Christmas morning, I began looking for other options. This is the same maker as my husband's run from his childhood in the 80's (which we still use at grandma's house). It is even better than the original.PROS:The plastic is not flimsy and is quite durable. The pieces fit snugly together. Once you set it up it is VERY stable in comparison to Marbulous. After helping my 3 year old design the set, I could let him play without fear of it completely coming apart. The whole family had fun all day long and with all the pieces we have, the possibility for designs is endless. So much fun and definitely worth the cost.CONS: It does take really small marbles and does not use normal sized marbles. That being said, it came with plenty for us to use and we can purchase more on Amazon. Also, the marbles could be easily swallowed so be careful with little ones.

Chinese manufacturing = Major flaws
I was excited to buy this set for my kids since I had the same one in the 80s.To the leadership of DT Learning Products (in Illinois), I hope you're getting a great deal with your Chinese manufacturing. This set arrived missing a large piece and shows poor size consistency and quality control. As we started to assemble the set, I quickly realized there is no jump piece. That's the best part of the set! It's listed on the part manifest, we have half-circle landing pad, but no jump chute. Swell. As my kids started to build and send the marbles down, I saw the marbles stopping or getting stuck. The spinning wheel part gets hung up and can stop the marble. The feet did not rest evenly on the smooth laminate floor and wobbled. The start gate tipper is warped. The towers didn't seem to result in consistent heights, which affects the ramp angles and slows down the marbles. Overall, the effect to me is that this is a poor quality set. My kids quickly lost interest since the marbles don't descend smoothly or consistently, even sometimes stopping entirely.I thought I was buying a higher quality set at this price. Very disappointed, do NOT recommend.

STEM LEARNING IN THE CLASSROOM
I initially purchased a cheaper version of this toy. I was deeply disappointed. The plastic pieces were flimsy and it was difficult for the children in my class to put it together. Then I remembered that I version of this toy I had when my children were younger was from Discovery Toys. I purchased it immediately. As a pre-school teacher wanting to add STEM learning as part of my curriculum Marbleworks was a perfect addition to my classroom. I demonstrated to my 5 year olds how to do the basic assembling ( putting the base pieces on the bottom, etc….) and within moments a couple of the children in the class understood the basics of engineering this toy. As the weeks have gone by, this is still a popular toy in my classroom. The children who have mastered it work with the children who are still learning how to build it. I love the team building that this project creates in the classroom. When completed and marbles are run through down it, it leads to discussions on gravity and other science theories. Now the children work together to assemble this on their own. They love making different combinations with the pieces. Not only is this toy educational, IT'S FUN!

For some reason, when I got these, they didn't seem as sturdy as the Marbleworks set that I had as a child 25 or so years ago. I got this set when my daughter was three, and it wasn't something she could really do on her own at that age--which is alright, it was a toy we played together with. Now, she's 5 1/2 and getting the hang of building with this set on her own. 5+ really seems like the perfect age for this toy. This set comes with plenty of fun and basic pieces, and none of the pieces have broken in two years of use, so maybe they're sturdier than I thought initially. My mom was a Discovery Toys salesperson when I was a kid, and I have really fond memories of playing with this toy alone and with my siblings. I think my daughter enjoys it, too.

CLASSIC
Got this set for Christmas 2015 (that's 5 year old me in the picture). In 2018, my friend brought his large collection of vintage Marbleworks pieces, most of my pieces are with him now, as he moved in 2020. Since I'm moving close to him soon, I might get the pieces back
