Extended and expanded classic superhero movie
This two disc collection includes two versions of the classic 1978 Superman movie with Christopher Reeves. The special edition is the same as included in other BluRay collections, with a good amount of special features (commentaries and documentaries). The expanded edition, however, is a three hour reimagining of the original movie. While it was edited not by Donner, I do like this version as well. Some pacing issues (which make the theatrical/ special editions superior) but it is such a fun movie, that having more beats in some of the scenes and fleshing out of a few characters feels like an interesting spinHighly recommended if you're a fan or a completist collector

Extended TV Cut Fully Worth The Price of Admission
I can happily say that I'm very pleasantly surprised!I'd avoided the Extended TV cut of Superman as I'd assumed that the best of it would be what was added to the Special Edition years ago.How wrong I was, and what a joy to find so much substance here.Rather than the bloated, 'every bit off the cutting room floor' slog I assumed this would be, it is actually a far better, more engaging viewing experience than the theatrical or SE versions. The pacing is spot on - which might be the biggest surprise; everything has a bit of room to breathe and it really makes the theatrical version look like it was cut to shreds. There's a surprising amount of tidy effects work here left out of the SE, especially some of the optical flying shots. The majority of the film looks on par with the last released versions of the film (prior to the UHD) detail-wise. Colours look great overall aside from some of the longstanding washed out composites and really just 1 short section of really dirty, damaged looking film.Audio is a bit of a let down. Sadly the very fun 5.1 SE mix hasn't been emulated for this release. The only option is a slightly quiet, slightly flat - albeit mostly original - stereo mix. Throw some volume at it and it's OK.Perhaps, however unlikely - in time WB might consider some superior audio for this absolute gem.All in all, what a great purchase

IS IT A BIRD ? IS IT A PLANE ? ...NO, IT'S SUPERMAN
This an old (1978) DC-Comic favourite starring the late Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/ Superman. With a stellar cast list including Marlon Brando as Jo-El (Superman's biological father) Susanah York as his biological mother on the doomed planet Krypton, Gene Hackman as the evil criminal on Earth Lex Luther, Terence Stamp as General Zod: Evil leader of the three Kryptonian criminals, Trevor Howard as the First-Elder on Krypton, Glen Ford as Johnathan Kent Clark's Earth-Father and of courseMargot Kidder as Lois Lane: A reporter at the Daily Planet, Superman's love interest on planet Earth. When Krypton's fate was inevitable Jo-El dispatches his son Kai-El (Superman's real name) Earthbound in a craft, when crash landing on Earth, the young child is taken into care by the Kent's, it is soon obvious the youngster has unusual power.Clark eventually takes on the super-hero role after listening to a visual recording made by his biological father.Superman soon flies into action, saving all that he can from both disaster and criminal intent.isGreat fun, Christopher Reeve is looked upon by many as the ultimate Superman, with todays technology how much better would his role have been ?In truth there is no great advantage visually by buying the 4k upgrade in my view.

Fab
I found an extended release of this film in HMV some years ago on DVD and was really happy (the british release always seemed cut short) - I was rather upset to find after a couple of years that the disc had separated in the middle and I had to throw it away. I spent quite a long time looking for the same version again but could not find it until this version came out! Needless to say I snapped it up and cherish as a boyhood classic - fab film, fab version and blue ray just makes things look even better.

We Believed a Man Could Fly. Restored Version. Complete.
Blu Ray, 146 minutes version. Separate end credits for the team responsible for the restoration. Excellent quality image & audio; Superman costume no longer green in a couple of scenes, as seen in previous releases. Has Superman surviving the 3 traps, before breaking into Luther's underground apartment. (I used to have the original Region1 NTSC "washed out" Special Edition, with a documentary that had clips from the film that were better quality than the film itself!) Condition as described; a great deal on price and postage from our regular, reliable third-party seller Momox UK - via Germany and German post. (Languages & subtitles options appear on a thin bar, at the bottom of the screen, as the film introduction starts.) Highly recommended version.
