Great great knife!
I have only recently been turned into Spyderco knives, but this is one of the few I already own and carry regularly. It really comes down to this knife, the ‘Native 5’, and my ‘lil Native’. When I want a small knife or one with a flick capability, I go with the lil native but when I want a more common sized blade but with lightweight forefront, I go with the Native 5.Solid, quality steel. Durable and lightweight handle material. Does not allow for the notorious flick open technique, BUT with the huge signature spyderco thumb hole, it’s actually rather easy to manipulate with just one hand. It really doesn’t take much used to getting to on mastering closing it one hand either. SV30 steel is durable and tough but also takes more attention to detail and patience in sharpening. Great Spyderco model for sure.

New favorite EDC
This is somewhat smaller and lighter than the previous Spyderco ZDP 189 steel EDC that I carried making it very comfortable using the clip for my front pants pocket. It is extremely sharp out of the box and being made of CPM S30V, holds it edge against the heavy cardboard through which I cut regularly. It is also a traditional lockback, which I greatly prefer. If you need a light but strong EDC, this is it.

My Favorite EDC
I have a LOT of pocket knives. Hundreds. My overall favorite is the old Camillus Boy Scout knife, but since my thumbnails got weak and crumbly, I can't use that one any more.Enter Spyderco, with their great, easy-opening "Spydy Hole."I have to say that my overall top favorite Spyderco knives are the Manix 2, the Manix 2 XL, and the Sage 3. But, our local knife laws don't allow public carry of anything over 3 inches, so I can only carry those around the house. For public carry, the Native 5 is my new favorite. It has all of the great features of the Manix 2 and the Sage, but in a legally acceptable length. My only negative comment is that I wish it had the same "bolt" lock action as the Manix 2 and Sage 3, but I can live with what it has.Hair-flicking sharp out of the box. A very good knife.

Not what I expected
I love Spyderco knives but this was my first and last back lock Spyderco because it has a very stiff action the only way to open it is slow rolling, your not flicking this SpydercoOther than that the knife is great but the action needs work

Perfect for a woman’s hands!
First off, I’m a female so my hands are not large. This knife is absolutely comfortable and ergonomically perfect! This is by far thee sharpest knife I’ve received out f the box-WOW!! Other knives that fit a woman’s hands are the Benchmade Mini Osborne and the Ontario RAT 2 (D2)

Carried almost everyday for a year and a half
Holds up extremely well! No issues at all! Holds it's sharpening very well. Very light and doesn't take a lot of space. Only downside is the pocket clip got bent and can't get it back to its original position but still works. Highly recommend

Practical knife but ergonomically second to the Shaman, Delica, or Paramilitary
I wanted to love this knife; the weight, size, and blade shape all seemed like the makings of a mid-size EDC knife comparable to the Mini-Griptillian. The Native 5 has the best 50/50 choil I've ever handled but falls short in: the handle corners, handle butt, and occluded deployment hole. The choil is the best; hands down better than the Paramilitary/Para in that it's deeper, perfectly 50/50, and locks in so solidly. However, the corners of the handle are too square making it a near-but-not perfect grip in the hand, the pointy butt end of the handle extends a bit too far to be useful when not using the choil, and handle, while sloped toward the deployment hole, does occlude it a bit. With my Medium size hands, the occluded Spydie hole was actually completely fine; not easy to Spydie flick the knife open anyhow as a lock-back.Ultimately, if the handle corners were better contoured, I'd keep the knife just for the choil but it was too boxy and uncomfortable. Perhaps the G10 handles are better, we'll see! They should copy the rounded corners from the Delica to make it better
