Wonderful resource
I looked at this book sooooo many times during my daughter's first year. I kept bookmarkers on the heavy use pages, like fevers, food choices, skin issues, and developmental milestones. It saved me many a sleepness night of worrying, although I also called the doc's office as needed. It's a great all around resource, particularly for first time parents. Most of parenting is a learning curve, so I didn't take everything written in this book as gospel. As a matter of fact, I found some of my experiences to be directly contrary to what was written in the book. For example, my baby's first fever threw me for a loop. I called the doc's office and was told to go to the ER, but I also looked up the info in the book on fevers. One of the recommendations was to keep giving formula. Well, after getting projectile-vomitted on almost immediately after giving her formula, I realized that was a bad idea. This actually happened when I was in the ER, and the nurse looked at me like I had two heads when she realized I had just given my baby some formula. Despite me telling her that I was concerned about my daughter being dehydrated (as the book had warned), she treated me like Mommy Dearest for that. Another much nicer nurse taught me all about Pedialyte and other things to do for fever. Despite this experience with the info in the book, I have found the majority of what's there to be right on point. It was great to have so much info packed into one book. Phone calls to moms, grandmoms, sisters, and aunts won't hurt either.

The Staple
I don't know about you, but I have a tendency to hate buying whatever everyone else is buying, usually convinced that it will be very run-of-the-mill.When I was looking for a guidebook for my daughter's first year, I looked all around, and even received a different book from a relative. Then someone lent me this book - and it's just the gold standard. Sometimes everyone buys something because it's the best! I really like the style of this book, the reassuring but informative tone, and the different sections assisting families of babies with different needs (special needs, adoption, etc). But mostly, I just like the information it provides on my daughter every month! A really good one - go get it.

More than what you want to know
This book is just the one I was looking for. We have a newborn and this is my first child. Also we don't have any family and friends around. I was confused with so many things and this book made it really easy. Whenever I had any confusion, every time I got my answer. I would say this is a must have book if you are having a newborn and don't have much experience. Only thing is that the volume/size of this book might scare you as it scared me at first:) Don't worry, I felt it's not required to read all the pages. I also got it in an amazing price. Overall, buy it and you will not regret.

Gift Purchase
I bought this as a gift for a friend who was having her first child. I bought it based on reviews of it. I haven't used it myself, so I really can't say if it is good or not, but I've given it twice as a gift and both set of parents said it was very useful.

Love it
I read the "What To Expect While You Are Expecting" book throughout my pregnancy and I figured I'd give the "What To Expect The First Year" book a try. It has been really handy. I just made the saline solution for my 6 week old daughter's nasal congestion last night and she and I both slept like babies because she could breathe better. I also like the fact that it tells you where your baby should be (or could be) developmentally.BTW this review will come up with my husbands name in case there are any questions ;)

The ULTIMATE baby guru textbook
Having read the book in this series by the same name for pregnant women, I had to have this one. The night after I had my baby I sat in my hospital bed and ordered this book on Kindle. Accompanied by the app, this book has been a great resource so far in my journey as a new mom.

A 'must read'...
This book is a continuation on the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" idea. My wife has found this book to be very informative. Every mom, new or otherwise, can rely on this book to give real info and real advice for real questions and issues. Even after being a father for 16 yrs (prev marriage), I've gotten a great deal from the book. Some parts validate my actions while other parts of it answer lingering questions I had over the years. Great book!

A must for parents!
This is a MUST for parents who want answers but not a lot of lecture or opinions about what they NEED to do. I loved this what to expect when you're expecting. I bought this for a friend who has a 4 month old. She says she uses.it all.the time! I think it is th ONE series of books i would recommend to any new parent.....or even the experienced one's!
