Game changer
I absolutely love Odie’s oils. Been using it for handles and I’m loving the way it’s turned out. I have the dark and regular and they both work fantastic. You absolutely get what you pay for, but a little bit goes a looooonnng way.I’ve tried a number of different products until I’ve gotten to this. I hope this helps save someone else from spending money on something else because you don’t need to look any further!

Great Results from a Rookie
Applied this to an unfinished Hardwood Reflections Birch Butcher Block Countertop from Home Depot and love the results. Started with three rounds of sanding using 120, 150, and 180 grit before applying Odie's Dark.My initial observation on opening it was the sweet scent, which is actually quite nice. It largely dissipated after a couple of days. The consistency was like a thick tree sap that easily washed off from my gloves after a few minutes of hot water and soap. The pictures are different sides of the same countertop (the unfinished pic is the the bottom), but you can see the rich golden hue it imparts on the wood. And the feel of the wood after buffing and drying is phenomenal (you need to buff after 40 minutes and before twenty hours after application). I waited two hours before buffing and it came out perfectly. My understanding is that the longer you wait, the more intense the buffing process will be, but the lower the likelihood of streaks. All in all, I highly recommend this. For what it's worth, one-tenth of the container was enough for one coat on both sides, though I'm sure this changes based on various factors. It has a beautiful visual and tactile depth that's hard to describe. I used some White Non Scratch Non-Woven Pads from Peachtree Woodworking Supply Store here on Amazon for applying and buffing. Just cut them to size and they worked well.I plan on using it as a desktop and will update this review after seeing how it holds up. It should be easy to repair any blemishes in any case. Just sand and reapply the wax. Of course, you could always use some kind of epoxy resin or seal if you want that extra protection, but nothing beats that rich natural feel of just using Odie's.

Amazing stuff
First time user of the Odies Dark - have always used the Original. Looks amazing on South Texas Mesquite. Dark is not rated for outdoor use like the Original. I do recommend.

OK but way overpriced
This works as advertised and I have not had a problem with any sticky residue as some have reported. I suspect they put it on too thick and/or did not buff it off properly. It does not develop much of a film at all, which may be what you want. It results in a minimal finish. My complaint is that this little jar is way overpriced for what it is. I doubt there is any secret sauce involved and suspect it is just a mixture of boiled linseed oil, and various waxes. Various youtube videos describe how to make your own hard wax oils, which is what I will be doing from now on.

excellent finish, hard to screw up
I've tried a lot of different finishes, and this one is fantastic. Used it on mahogany. Sand to 220 grit, rub in 3 coats of this (30-40 minutes between them), wait 3-4 hours, then buff it out. Once it dries overnight, the finish will be smooth as glass, and the wood shows beautiful figure and a soft satin sheen.Go to Odie's site and watch the how-to videos, and do it like they say. The key is in the buffing -- I used an old white cotton T-shirt, and buffed it in swirls and kept using a clean part of the cloth until no more finish came off on it.Don't know about long term durability yet, but I expect good results. If a problem happens down the line, it's super easy to fix -- a little sanding and reapply as before. It couldn't be more foolproof -- you will not regret trying it!

Nice color
I was skeptical about this product. However, having used it, it is easy to apply and gives a nice color to the wood. It does not darken as much initially as I had hoped. However, I applied several coats to achieve the color I needed. Great product!
