The Excellent Wife: A Biblical Perspective - Study Guide Spiral-bound – January 1, 1998

It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea but if your desire as a wife is to follow the Lord and submit to your husband, it’s exactly what you need in your toolkit. The author gives excellent examples to help you. She herself was a straight up feminist who was ambitious, craved to climb the ladder, and was preparing to leave her family to make that happen. She managed to find her way back to her family and The Lord and is sharing her learnings (and the learnings of others) along the way.

This is an excellent book! However it is VERY difficult! If I wasn’t supported by some fantastic mentors, after the first few chapters, I would have put this down and said “this is impossible.” It honestly has helped me in my already good relationship with my husband and parts can certainly apply to any relationship you have. I am still a work in progress, daily trying to take baby steps towards being a God honoring wife. The study guide really helped with getting more out of the book.

I just started reading the book and purchased the study guide. I want to be the wife that God wants me to be. I think I’m a good wife but already see in a couple dozen pages there is so much more God has planned for me as a wife. I start a Bible study w a group of ladies in a couple weeks for this book and am going to embrace what scripture says see what changes God makes in me.

The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace has been an absolute eye opener for me! This book takes a hard look at Scripture and then tells it like it is. No fluff, no sugar coating, no ridiculous apologizing for God's Word- just the Truth from His Word laid out for wives that will hear it and take it to heart.I bought this and the study guide of the same name and have been constantly convicted of where I am not following the Lord's calling on my life. I greatly appreciated the straight forward approach and the humility it's written with- recognizing and owning her own failures to give the grace God has given her but using them as teachable moments for the reader.I would like to see an integrated book and study guide with the appendices in the appropriate places through the book if I had an opinion to give.

Powerful thoughts inside. I am on chapter five now and each chapter has given a lot to think on. Have you ever wondered about a godly way to say hey honey that bothered me or it wasnt right? And have you ever thought of a Godly way to react to that phrase when it comes from your spouse? Have you ever wondered why those reproofs are actually a blessing? Mutual Sanctification. Beautiful thoughts that when really prayed over and thought about can be game changers in a marriage.

I started reading the book without knowing there is a study guide so when I ordered this I started the book over and I have retained so much more from the book by adding in this study guide. I’m doing it on my own so you definitely don’t need other participants to do this.

This was great!! Great reminders and tips for us wives. The “homework” was a little lengthy, but I’ve referred back to it at times!
