Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd Gen 14-inches Ultrabook Laptop with 2.3GHZ Intel Core i5-5300U, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD, HDMI, Windows 10 Pro (Renewed)

This Lenovo X1 Carbon Certified Refurbished laptop arrived in excellent condition. I normally sell laptops like this to my customers, but this one was for my own personal use out in the field. I took a risk buying a refurb, but I'm glad I did because the laptop works great and has no blemishes or scratches. I ended up saving a lot of money by going this way and couldn't be happier.

Right out of the box, the POST process failed.Device was set to boot to something other than the ssd.Once the boot menu was corrected, we got a date/time error that requires you know what the he** you're doing to even correct it. (Luckily I do, the person receiving this device does not)"No battery present" error once I got it booted.Once booted to windows, the device has display issues and 'resets' the display often.(could be a driver issue)Overall, absolute trash unboxing experience. 0/5 stars.Not worth the $175, we didn't even get what we paid for IMO.

The laptop was in ok shape. The Bios had been cleared so there is no way to tell the number of charge cycles and I don't know if they replaced the battery without cracking it open. The biggest issue is that it cannot be upgraded to Windows 11, when I ran the Microsoft system requirements checker it didn't have TPM 2.0 (I will have to see if the Bios can be flashed to 2.0) and the processor wasn't supported. Keep that in mind. Another issue is the specifications lists an RJ45 jack which I thought was a flip down port on the side from the pictures, nope it is a separate dongle that was not included which was disappointing. That said the laptop is functional and took about 2 hrs of setup to get all the updates in place. I would recommend installing the Lenovo Vantage app to make sure your firmware, Bios, etc. are all up to date. It will be a fine laptop, but I am a little nervous flying completely blind on the battery life. It is holding a decent level of charge and says it has 3 hrs. at a full charge. I can't afford a new laptop to replace my chromebook that is at the end of its life cycle and I am tech savvy so I can deal with the minor technical challenges to squeeze a bit more life out of this laptop in Windows and when that end of support comes for Windows 10 I will probably just throw Linux on this computer and run it a little longer.

This is not my primary computer. I bought this to deal with email, scheduling and web browsing. After installing Win10, MSOffice. Adobe Acrobat, LogMeIn Client, Dropbox,Synology Drive, iCloud, Google Drive, I have 200gb left for local storage and other apps. I’m so happy with this purchase. It is fast enough for my needs. What a bargain!

Great laptop. Sent wrong charger. Correct charger was only $12 so no big deal. Works perfectly without all the junk the put on a brand new laptop that slows it down.
