Alaia Hardcover – October 16, 2018

Luckily, I didn’t spend a lot on this. I was after some good photos of Alaia’s work. This book does not have that. It is stylized to the point of rendering the work invisible. Blurry photos, dark photos, colored filters. The authors make a statement that this is Alaia’s vision for the book. Ok. He apparently did not ant the book to celebrate his work. He seems to have wanted a mood and celebration of his friends and inspirations. While I can appreciate his intent, it’s not what I was after.

I don't know why they put those colorful tints on pictures. Please look before you purchase....

I absolutely love this book. The layouts, the content, and the design elements are included in this with its presentation. Most of the negative reviews come from people simply wanting a normal catalog of photos and no real artistic flow to it. This delivers on that end.
