EmersonGear Recon Kit Chest Pack
A very nice piece of gear. Well made with plenty of pockets and pouched. 4x zip pockets in total, one externally and two inside the main zip compartment. I can see multiple uses for this item from sports shooting to wilderness trips, rafting, kayaking etc. Pack it with those essential survival tools and immediate access items that you just can’t do without if you get separated from your main pack. Plenty of carry space for maps, compass, field note pad, pocket knife, GPS, matches, lighter, torch etc. If you find it too cumbersome or restrictive to carry just pack it away in your main backpack. Measuring 12.6” x 7.9” x 2”, I had wondered if it might prove to be too wide for my small frame but that is not the case. A very competitive price when compared with other brands of similar items yet still made to a high standard with all the features the other brands have. Made in China. In keeping with other reviews I alsoreconfigured the straps to the correct orientation. I'm so impressed with this item I have ordered a second one in multicam.PRODUCT UPDATE: THERE ARE AN AWFUL LOT OF WHINY POSTS ON THIS PAGE REGARDING THE USABILITY (OR LACK OF) OF THIS PRODUCT AND THE SLIPPAGE OF THE SHOULDER STRAPS. FOR SOME REASON THIS PRODUCT ARRIVES WITH THE SHOULDER STRAPS THREADED THROUGH THE BUCKLES THE WRONG WAY. ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS FOR THE END USER TO RE-THREAD THE STRAPS THROUGH THE BUCKLES IN THE CORRECT ORIENTATION. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE !!!!!!! I have also added a wide Ranger Band to each of the tension straps of the harness to tuck away the straps and these can be slid down as far as the buckles. Even with the addition of another small pouch attached to the molle on front of this unit the straps retain this unit in position without slipping.

Straps can be fixed
Product is fine. It's basically what I expected. Feels durable, has a good number of pockets and compartments. Padding on the back of the pouch is nice. I think it's a good value compared to similar products.I mostly wanted to write a review to include this picture for anyone concerned about or having trouble with the straps sliding. The straps are designed to side when pulled on one end and stay tight when pulled on the other just like a seatbelt. This is so you can tighten them while you're wearing it, but they won't loosen up on you as you walk. If your straps are sliding then reverse the direction they feed through the buckles. I had to reverse all 4 of my straps. Picture for reference.

Great piece of kit
Very impressed at the quality of this item. Gives overpriced competitors a big run for the money. Sturdy and very useable.

Buckles and straps loosen very easily.
Overall great pack, I did a 17 mile weekend backpack on the AT, reaching elevations of 5800ft, I used this to carry items I needed readily available. The biggest flaw are the buckles. They almost immediately start to loosen with the constant jarring and moving. I didn’t want the pack too tight because I wanted to have free range of motion, but I ended up having to tape the straps and buckles to keep them from loosening.

Quality product. Great for running/hiking while carrying the essentials
Perfect compartment for running & other items. I'll run/hike upwards of 10 miles and it is super comfortable the entire time. I carry my CCW w/ extra Mag and phone, so it has ample room, but has the inner pockets/retaining bands to hold those items in place. I did cinch the straps around the chest quite tight, so it limited the pouch from bouncing. I secured the extra length of the strap with Gorilla Tape & it works quite well. Would definitely recommend this product. Well made & good quality.

Good chest rig alternative that can hold variety of items
As many people said, externally, this is essentially a copy of the Hill People Gear Recon Kit Bag. I do emphasize "externally". There are minor variations, but overall, it is a very similar design.I am a delivery driver and I want to keep a tablet with me along with my phone and flashlight(s). Belt mounted or thigh-mounted would not work for me, due to getting in and out of vehicles up to 100 times per day. After looking through various possibilities, I settled on this. At the time of order, black was not available (it is now), so I picked black Multi-cam (tm).First impression: it's snug. I maxed out all the extensions, and it fits just about right. FWIW, my chest size is 50 inches, so if your chest is smaller than that, you will have no problem with this rig. Else, you'll need to redo the sides. And the buckles do come loose if it's not under tension. With that said, this feels a hair larger than the HPG Recon Kit Bag, but it comes out to be the same 3 rows x 8 spaces of PALS webbing on the front. The exterior setup is the same as the HPG: a mesh panel in the back. FWIW, the buckles open on the right side. There are several additional tabs on the sides, at the bottom, and on the top so you should have no problem attaching them to your existing pack simply as a large organizer, or rig an additional chest band for extra secure in case you go running. But you'll need to use your own accessories. The outside material claims to be authentic "black multi-cam" and feels like pretty thick Cordura fabric too. There is one front zippered pocket with double zippers (so it opens either way). Three pockets inside. The main compartment is double zippered, with zippers only reaching down about 80% of the way, so it does NOT unzip flat like some IFAK pouches. I'll be referring to the side closer to the chest as "chest-side" and the other as "outside".On the chest-side panel there's one zippered compartment and several storage slots. The middle 3, with elastic, are roughly large pen-sized, while two large slots on either side of center have hook-n-loop / shockcord tab closures. On the outside panel, there's ANOTHER zippered pocket, and a whole hook-n-loop loop-side panel, divided into 2 pockets.Right now, I have the tablet simply placed in the center compartment, with a small powerbank as a backup. I opened up the outside pocket and I can use it as a phone holder. Flashlight and pen are inside. I also have USB cables.I wore it all day and it works quite well. It does not interfere with driving, and the feel of the seatbelt across the rig is minimal, as I don't have plans to add too many items to the bag. It was raining yesterday, and I was able to put my water-resistant phone in the front pocket, keep both hands free, and enjoy my audiobook from my tablet while driving and delivering. It is 90% of my ideal setup and that is much closer than anything else that came before. I can carry more stuff if I wanted to, but did not need to.So what's the problem? It is relatively "heavy", in that it will sink lower on your chest and you may have to shift it occasionally. It is also slightly wide. If it was about 2-4 inches narrower it may work a little better, as you can see from the picture, if I reach across the body the elbow will touch the rig. It does not really restrict mobility though.I'd prefer an emptier interior with more hook-n-loop panels so I could have customized it better, but the existing organizer bits are not too bad. I've been using it daily and it works fine.
