Biomedical Acupuncture for Sports and Trauma Rehabilitation
The information on dry needling techniques contained in this book by Dr Ma is invaluable and provides a comprehensive immuno-neuro-physiological basis for management of patients with high demand physical occupations and pursuits. The book covers a logical sequence of concepts of management of these problems, provides strategies and techniques for dry needling and demands one to take multifactorial and comprehensive assessment and treatment approaches, requiring me to think a great deal about the way I practice and the core skills and techniques I employ on a daily basis. The needling strategy fits very well into my paradigm of practice. This book is an excellent reference material to compliment the practical courses offered by Dr Ma.

It's ok
Well thought out, the mechanism of dry needle technique is explained well; however, I personally have a more Western approach in my technique and this was a little old school IMHO

Biomedical acupuncture
Dr. Ma's follow-up book to his pain management text is an invaluable resource and takes acupuncture pain management to a whole new level. As a chiropractor focusing on managing pain and improving function in athletes and also the general population I use his acupuncture techniques daily and find that my patients experience rapid and long lasting relief. Dr. Ma has demystified acupuncture taking it from it's roots thousands of years ago and brings it to a modern day technique providing a rationale that we can all understand based on known physiological processes. A must read for any clinician practicing acupuncture.Marc S Cahn, DCBoulder, Co

A new way looking at acupuncture
The author gave a different view on traditional acupuncture. Using anatomy and neuroscience, the author provided a rather clear scientific approach in using dry needling. It is not a true practical guideline teaching you which acupuncture point to use to treat people, but, the author provides a concept that you can derive your own treatment approach and methods. I suggest this book to every one who uses acupuncture to help people. (Sorry for my English coz this is not my 1st language ^o^)

The biggest professional ripoff ever
Several years ago, when physical therapists were trying to convince the professional boards and the government overseers of the boards here in Arizona, and other states, that they should be allowed to do dry needling on their patients, they made a very very big declaration that what they were doing was not acupuncture. Performing a professional service you are not licensed for is considered a big overstep in professional ethics and is usually a cause for professional discipline. After succeeding in hoodwinking the government that they were not doing acupuncture, and with only one weekend long training, PTs began to dry needle their patients. Now suddenly they are advertising and publishing books, that dry needling is bio- acupuncture….why? Because acupuncture IS effective, and it is trending, and every other medical professional wants to have a stake in the new trend, but without having to invest the 4 years of disciplined learning and clinical training it takes to REALLY practice acupuncture. So what they are using instead is slippery language to try and convince people THEY are doing acupuncture now but it is BIOMEDICAL acupuncture, and it is also the same as dry needling. In my estimation this is completely unethical and unprofessional but surely profitable for them. Buyers beware.

Incredible resource for physical therapists performing dry needling
Integrative Systemic Dry Needling has brought a whole new dimension to physical therapy. Dr. Yun-tao Ma's dry needling techniques described in this book allow for dynamic treatment of the body as a whole. I am amazed at the body's reaction to Dr. Ma's dry needling techniques- the rapid reduction of pain, edema, and muscle spasm which in turn restores proper postural alignment enhancing total body function.Janine K. A "must have" text,
The text is well written and comprehensive and contains considerable referencing of evidenced based practice related to dry needling. The author also presents more current and novel information regarding the uses and effectiveness of dry needing in 'wellness' and sports. Excellent text, a must have!
