Awesome Kit at a reasonable price.
I got into X-Wing, after purchasing a 2nd Edition Starter Set a few months ago. After playing a few games, I bought an additional Starter Set, two 2nd Edition T-65 X-Wings expansions, a Phoenix Squadron Pack, along with 2nd Edition Empire TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, a TIE Defender and a TIE Advanced. To expand my 2nd Edition Rebel Squadron, I bought quite a few new, 1st Edition Rebel Alliance ships and two Most Wanted Sets (to repaint as neutral Y-Wing & Z-95 ships and deployed as either Rebel or Scum, having also purchased a Scum and Villainy Conversion Kit for $21). The cheap costs were irresistible for the 1st Edition ships and of course, the Rebel Alliance Conversion Kit. The Kit is able to convert two of every small to large, 1st Edition Rebel Ship, including three A-Wings, four Z-95’s and two TIE Fighters, along with pilot and upgrade cards and tokens. I even purchased a 1st Edition TIE Fighter, to repaint and convert to Sabine’s TIE. It’s awesome and well worth it to me.Why do I think it was worth it? I bought two brand new 1st Edition YT-1300’s for $30($15ea.) and the Conversion Kit for $22. That’s $52 total, for two playable 2nd Edition YT-1300’s that would cost me $60-$80, if I bought them brand new “as” 2nd Edition ships (The 2nd Edition YT-1300 currently sell for $29ea-$39ea). Those two conversions more than paid for the cost of the Conversion Kit alone. It makes every ship converted after that, “cost free” and I’ve converted 11 ships in all. It’s just a matter of time, when I can use the remaining conversions,. I’d like to eventually get two ARC-170’s, two HWK’s, two K-Wings and two or three additional A-Wings,Obviously, you don’t need 2nd Edition ship and base cards or maneuver dials, for EVERY ship you have of a certain type. Just the ones you have deployed for a game. For example, if I had four 1st Edition YT-1300’s, I’ll more than likely not fly more than two at a time. So buying a second Rebel Alliance Conversion Kit to convert ALL four to 2nd Edition would be unnecessary and pointless. I just need two 2nd Edition cards and maneuver dials for whatever ship or two that’ll be in play. Same goes if I have multiple TIE Fighters, with multiple squadron paint schemes. Like four squadrons of 8. I don’t need 32, 2nd Edition ship and base cards with maneuver dials, I just need it for those ships I have in play, in any given game.

Good for new players
I wanted to write this review really to serve as a counterpoint for the other review that is, understandably, negative. If you are converting your collection from 1.0 to 2.0, this kit comes short in several ways that the other reviewer outlined excellently. Although you get 2 maneuver dials for most ships (3 for the A-Wings and Z-95's), you only get one set of pilot bases which leads to problems where you can't fly two pilots because they share the same base. This really sucks. Also, the fact that FFG didn't include any extra shields in the conversion kit is mind boggling especially for the Rebels where almost every single one of their ships has shields. With that in mind, why am I giving this a 5 star rating? Here are my reasons:For a new player such as myself, buying a conversion kit is simply the best way to get into the game. 1.0 ships, at the time of writing, are almost universally discounted 25-50% whether here on Amazon, at your neighborhood game store, or even people just selling their collections for cheap online or locally. Compare this to the steep $20 msrp for new 2.0 ships, and after just a few ships, you are already saving money with the conversion kit. Also, the variety present in the kits is fantastic compared to the measly 3 ships per faction currently re/released for 2.0. Even if FFG eventually re releases every 1.0 ship, it'll likely take them years since they are currently planning on supporting 7 total factions, 2 of which will be completely brand new when the Clone Wars era factions release next year, compared to the 3 from 1.0.Upgrade cards. So many upgrade cards. If you get a conversion kit, you will be set for upgrade cards for a faction forever. Also if you are new to the game or even if you played 1.0 but didn't have a complete Rebels collection, you will still get access to every crew member from every ship ever released for the Rebel Alliance in 1.0. Never owned the Ghost but still want to use Zeb's ability in the Millennium Falcon? Well you've got it. It's nice knowing that you can equip your ships with whatever upgrades you want to on the squad builder app and that'll have the cards to do it and then some. There are my reasons, again coming from someone new to X-Wing, as to why the Rebel Alliance conversion kit is a good buy. I can't speak from the point of view of someone migrating their collection from 1.0 but then again I don't have to. Hopefully this review was helpful to those considering picking up the conversion kit or at the very least provided a different perspective.

Wrong box shipped great upgrade set though
I would give it 5 stars if I had gotten the item I actually order. I order the rebel alliance box and was shipped the galactic empire. While that was a planned purchase in the future it makes me leary to order again.

A great deal of good crew and gunner cards in this upgrade.
This is exactly what I needed to expand my Scum and Villany force.

Great Value, Timely Service AND the X-Wing kit gets you back into the game.
The price was excellent and who ever the vender is, they did a great job of getting things out on time and in excellent condition. It was new, in box with zero box damage- which can be a big deal to gamers. I already have the original X-Wing game and needed the Conversion kit to be able to use the pieces I have to continue playing so for me it was something important. If a person does not have old first pieces that were under old rules, they will not need this kit. The pieces I have ranged in cost between $15 and $90 each so over time I easily had $600 worth over time between myself and family. When they changed the rules, it made our pierces unusable. This kit puts us back in the game.
