If you are an outdoorsman (woman), this is a must for cold days when the wind is cutting through everything.

This Sitka Boreal Beanie is great! Warm, lightweight, and breathable while being windproof. I like that it easily covers my ears when it's cold and windy. It's not waterproof but you can make it water repellent by washing with Gear Aid Revivex Wash-in Repellent or Grangers Wash+Repel 2 in 1 (both available here on Amazon) or you can use their spray on waterproofing. Revivex is recommended by Sitka, but all of these products do a great job of adding water repellency to this cap. Like all Sitka Gear, the Beanie is not cheap but, to me, their products are worth every penny!

This is super warm and blocks the wind. However, if it was waterproof it would get 5 stars. It has kept me somewhat dry (since it is synthetic), but I would not trust it in a downpour. It fits a little big on me but I have a smaller head. I always take it on days that are 40 or below. That said the fit is really comfortable with the plush lining.

This runs a tad small for me, but after several outings it’s better fitting! The Windstopper is 1st Rate and it’s warmth is SO AWESOME that I’ve had to engage pit-Zips, which still wasn’t working, so I had to completely open my down/Gore-Tex jacket!! WHEW! I’ve NEVER worn ANY Hat this WARM (& I’m 62!!). This more than compensates for it’s cost and for me, THAT’S Saying Something!!! If you’re ’on the fence’ about this, just STOP 🛑..and buy it! You can Thank me later.. 🇺🇸
